In preparation for a trip out West, I am reading this. I plan to spend the better part of a day at the Little Bighorn battlefield and make a side trip to the Battle of Rosebud site. For me, this has been an excellent read. Since there were no survivors with Custer at Last Stand Hill, it is conjecture as to what actually happened with Custer on the afternoon of the battle. However, post battle interviews with the 7th Calvary and American Indian survivors as well as detailed archaeological studies indicate this is a most accurate description of the battle and the events leading up to it. Compelling reading.

My youngest son(the one studying the Civil War) turned me onto Philbrick. His stuff is always well researched and presented well.

I'm trying to get into it. Been fighting GoT, TWD, and Westworld for competitive rights to it. Too bad there is such good TV right now.

I like Bukowski, more his poetry though. "Dinosauria We" was a great poem and was the cause of many of my own bad, high school poems.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a race relations/reconciliation community event. In light of that I am challenging myself with the following:

I'll have to check that one out. I've read several on TR. Interesting character! The biography trilogy by Edmund Morris is outstanding.

Interesting in parts however the writing in parts is somewhat dry and dated.

Just move on to "The Talented Mr. Ripley" by Patricia Highsmith.
I usually don't read these crime and mystery novels. However Highsmith has got my interest as an author
    of many styles etc.

That is something I have considered myself. It is my favourite part of the Discworld series. But I guess I ought to finish the whole series before restarting it :)
