SHAVE OF THE DAY Prep: MLSW Sandalwood pre shave butter Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic Blade: Gillette Platinum (2nd shave) Brush: Maggard 24mm synthetic Lather: Ballenclaugh Woodsman, Coates Rose Post: SC Fortitude balm, peach Thayer's WH Very smooth 3 pass shave today. Decided to mix the Woodsman with Coates Rose cream, the sweedish pine tar overpowered the rose but they worked well together. Lather quality was excellent, plenty of residual slickness for touch ups. Finished off with Fortitude balm. Hope everyone had a great shave!

Wedgeday so I broke out the vintage Greaves. Not as close as I’d like - I guess you’d call it a really good DFS. Time to refresh the blade. I did try out some Thayer’s WH on the face prior to the touch-ups. I know I’ve seen that recommended somewhere from someone. It was a nice way to go. Besides, I want to keep some of my other shave products in rotation. Did yard work this morning. I think this may be the last day I will have to mow the lawn. Although it's supposed to get to a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit today (26 C), tomorrow the high will be about 40 degrees cooler and there's a slight chance of snow late in the day. Time to get the snow shovels ready! For the face shave I did my usual 2 passes, and a clean-up pass on the neck area. I am very impressed with this Probak razor. I took out the Pal injector to handle the head shave and it performed admirably. The only hiccup to an otherwise fine shave today was a cut to the back of my neck. I felt I hit something with the razor, twice. I didn't think too much at first about it but when I re-lathered my scalp for a 2nd pass I saw some blood on the brush. I finished up the shave and had to get some help from the wife because I could not tell what I had done. She said I cut open a blemish and also had a minor cut near it. She gave me some first aid, and made it all better. Have a great day, everyone!
Andrew, I'm not familiar with Ericsson razors. Do you know how old your razor is? Made in USA or Europe? It's a great looking razor... so I'm curious about it. Thanks! Dan
Your razor and razor case are in great shape! They look like you just picked them off the drugstore display!
Thank you Dan, I haven't used it much. It still squeaks when I open it! It's a great shaver too. Thanks for the kind words. Have a great day!

Thursday's OC Shave Proraso Pre Shave Colgate Mug Shaving Soap Jayaruh #229 Gillette Goodwill Gillette Silver Blue CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Colgate Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #229 synthetic brush. I thought I had written about CMS somewhere, but I will repeat. The CMS, to me, has no scent at all. It may be that it is an old, old puck, but it lathers like crazy. As far as cushion and slickness, I really don't know how to evaluate those. I do know that I got no irritation, nicks, or cuts. I did two passes with the Gillette Goodwill razor and Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SOTD Wednesday 10/25/2017 RAZOR: Sabi 3 Piece Extra Heavyweight - Gold tone (4 inch handle, 4 ounces)- this razor remains my GO TO DE razor. BLADE: Dorco Platinum ST-300 PREP: Hot water face wash with Ivory soap followed by hot water rinse. PRE-SHAVE: Bloom water from shave mug. BRUSH: SheaMoisture Ultimate Shave Brush - black badger knot. Plenty of rich lather for multiple passes. MUG: Repurposed coffee/soup mug SOAP: Hybrid (blended) Col. Conk Bay Rum + VDH Luxury Shave Soap- face lather POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse AFTER SHAVE: Aqua Velva Musk After Shave BALM: NONE NEEDED Another great shave from this razor! One of my favorite DE's. Standard 3 pass BBS - no touchups required. I had 2 days of growth to remove today and the SABI/Dorco combo performed very efficiently - as always. This soap blend has become one of my favorites. And it is getting to the bottom of the mug. Good stuff. I'll miss it when it is gone. The leaves are really transitioning into their beautiful fall colors around her. The days are getting short. Hope your week is looking up, and your shaves are all good ones.
