Those MicroMatics were built like a tank, so heavy that any pressure is probably too much. Lovely setup, Rick! Breaking out the big guns for this focus! Love the Weber and the Chubby 2! Awesome photo, Clint! Happy Fat Friday, Perry! Cool razor, Brian! Great photo Jason! Take a look at the top cap on both razors, are they the same thickness ? There are some OT with a thicker top cap that are supposedly the more aggressive. I have a thin cap OT that is as mild a kitten and then I have my Single Ring and ABC set that have fangs like a tiger. How is the 'Crat compated to the Sheraton? I find the Sheration super mild unless you open it up a bit. That is quite possibly the most stunning New I have ever seen, Mark!
One picture and lineup Perry. I hope you have a great weekend. Route 66 makes some fantastic soap for sure. Wonderful B&W Photo. Seville is one of my best scented shaving soaps I have tried. Great picture Jim. Is the Wholly Kaw one of those soaps made with Donkey Milk? If so can you tell it added anything to the soap? Wonderful New LC Mark. Nick really did great work on the razor.
The Aristocrat is a bit heavier than the Sheraton, so I find it a bit more aggressive. Not unlike a late 40s Aristocrat compared to a SS.
Thanks Clint! Unfortunately the pictures don't do this razor justice. Nick outdid himself on this one.
SOTN OCtober 26th Gillette Sheraton Voskhod (2) Dr Jon's Hydra Surrey w/ 24MM TGN 3 Band Synthetic Homemade Tangerine AS Last night I decided to knock down the sample of Dr Jon's Hydra that I've been trying to use up for a few months now. Went for the "Super Goop" lather and got a very thick shiny lather that was as slick as ice, It wasn't quite as thick and creamy as some of the tallow based soaps that I have used recently but it was magnificent in its own right and probably the best lather that I have ever gotten from this soap. I think maybe two or three more shaves in this manner and this soap should be gone. Ill be sure to hit it at least once more with The Soap Destroyer to put the nail in the coffin. The Sheraton is such a cool looking razor, but fully tightened down is super mild. When I shave with mine I tighten it down all the way and then open it back up a 1/4 turn, makes the word of difference. Day two on the Voskhod felt much smoother, but it still didn't deliver the baby. A DFS was had after three passes but not a hint of irritation so I'll take it. Have a great day and weekend my friends! TGIF!!
Your Sheraton looks fantastic. I agree they are certainly among the coolest razors Gillette made. More importantly. It's Friday and there he is. I can't get over how happy he seems.
Thank you, Perry! Thanks Clint! He is a very happy baby most of the time and hardly ever fusses. My wife and I often muse that our next one will be polar opposite and will be hell on wheels.
Thank you for the kind words Charlie. My is doing much better and continues to improve by the day. She's going for a follow up with the surgeon this morning. As the youngest and a daughter, she has long ago figured out how to wrap me around her finger. She's already taken Mom's iPad and shopping like crazy
There might be some truth to it. Our oldest daughter cried for the first 6 weeks. It took years for my wife and I to consider a second. Luckily Maya was a cuddle bunny and never cried.
Super jealous of the Shulton, Rick. Great pic. Sounds like you are ready for the weekend, Clint. Glad the shave started the day off well. Great pic, Brian. Route 66 is one of the few soaps that gets lots of love on here that isn't available from a Canadian retailer. The unavailability has probably saved me a few quid! Thanks, Jim. My first B&W pic ever, I believe. Thanks, Andrew. I believe they are the same, but I do have a pic of the two of them on 'The Haul' thread from last weekend. The handles are significantly different weights for sure. The Canadian is way heavier. Too much bacon... I enjoy it very much as well, Clint. I think the Reserve base is an even better lather, though. I'll join the chorus and say great Sheraton! Your son is always smiling because he knows his Dad owns a razor shop and he knows he will inherit about 200 first class shavers.
Thank you, Clint! This one does have donkey milk in it. I have one other Wholly Kaw soaps, Jamestown Gentleman, and it does not have the donkey milk. To me the donkey milk soap is slicker; though this may all in my head. The post shave feel is outstanding, definitely among the best soaps in this arena.
