Question on shave soaps-is leaving them in the mug uncovered until next use OK to do?

I must say, I'm happy to have a good number of Rise Cooling Balms(A.S.)..around to help me with my NB18 challenge. It's a nice post-shave, nothing fancy, but it does it's job well. In a post some months ago, I wrote that it must be similar to Lucky Tiger in that there isn't much fragrance but it leaves a great face-feel.

Thanks, gentlemen, for the kind words. I recently picked a few decorative sheets at a hobby shop and have been using them as backgrounds. I think the sheets are made for scrap booking. I'll eventually go back and get a few more for some added variety. I also got a small tripod for my phone, and I've been using fotor.com to do some minor photo editing.

I really loaded the Chubby 2 with shaving cream this morning, and I spent extra time working up the lather. It was much improved. I'll try to load heavier with soap tomorrow to see if I can do even better.

Congrats, Jim, on the big win last night! It must be cool to see a World Series Game with your Dad, and it's even better when your team wins!

I hope you all are having a great Sunday.

Absolutely, Paul. You might lose some scent, but otherwise it is not a concern.

It's always good to have "go to" items in your shave routine that you can count on. My "go to" AS balm is unrefined shea butter. The last batch I purchased has just a very faint scent that does not interfere with my aftershave. I don't think I'd be shaving with a DE everyday if I didn't use it...it's just that good for my skin. I hope you're having a great day, my friend.

Beautiful photo, Doug! I'm amazed at the longevity of the Personna Tungsten 74 blade.

Rick, the Ming Shi 2000S has peaked my curiosity. I'm sorry your first shave with it was cut short. I may have to pick one up. I also need to get a knot for my B-400 by Tom handle. I always enjoy seeing the B-400 in your SOTD.

John, as with your SE, I always get at least 7 shaves on a blade in my Mongoose. Those SE blades are pretty hefty compared to DE's. I PIF'd some Dirty Deeds soap to @pvtbanks. Hopefully, he'll take a break from parenting and chime in with his review. Like you, I will sometimes relegate shave soaps to the hand soap or face soap dish to use them up.

It's been pretty quiet in Neal's shaving world these past few shaves. Hopefully, the final stretch with the 1918 Old Style loaded with a highly acclaimed Feather blade will be the perfect finish for OCtober. I have the first aid kit on standby if you need it.

Jason, I always love seeing your SOTD photos. They always have a very nice vintage look and feel. I'm glad you like the Florida water. One day, I hope to pick up an OT to see if it shaves much differently than a LC or SC.

I've lived all my life in Kentucky and only recently learned what "Neat" means. It means the same thing as "Chug," but it sounds better! I just don't get out much, I guess. I hope all is well, Chris.

Beautiful set up and photo, Mark.

Clint, I think you will really like Mike's Natural Soap. It lathers beautifully, it's super slick, and the skin feel is very nice. He sells out frequently, so it's good to purchase it in advance.

Another good report on an OT! John, I know you prefer unscented products. KMF is great, but you might try some unscented Mike's Natural Soap if you want some variety. I'd place it just a touch above KMF. I hope all is well.

Thanks! I'll keep the Mike's Natural Soap in mind.

Things are actually going pretty well. The Cardiac Cath went fine with no need for a stent; I just really need to work on losing weight. I have a follow-up with a hand surgeon on the 8th about the Carpal Tunnel which is down to just a mild annoyance ATM. The big push at home is getting our daughter ready for her big move to NC next month.

Thank you again, Charles and everyone, for you well wishes.

Thanks, Charlie. I take quite a few pics on an antique quartersawn oak wardrobe that is part of a set my mother bought us for a wedding gift.
My usual OT is a little more agressive and maybe not as smooth as my LC. If I don’t get this new to me OT dialed in, it may be coming your way...

Thanks very much Charlie. These Personna blade are excellent. The only one I get more shaves out of are Personna 74 Tungsten. They last about a month.

I know a guy that shipped some products. He squeezed most of the air out of the plastic bottles to reduce the glug glug noise and sealed them in a ziplock bag. There might have been a prescription bottle with a couple small coins to make noise should the package we aren't talking about get shook by a curious (Agency Redacted) carrier.;)

Early on seeing Merkur Futur, Pal Adjustable, and similar retro-future styled razors really caught my eye. The IKon SBS looks interesting for the same reasons. My budget keeps me humble so I didn't splurge. When the Futur Clones appeared, and were being sold for next to nothing I ordered mine from Uncle Ding in China. Like everyone else involved, I received the bait-n-switch TTO. I did get my refund and a lesson in cheating Chinese fleabay dealers.

Turn the page to current events and now CONUS dealers have the Clones here in The States. The prices are good and from a trusted source. Reports from those who know say it's every bit a copy of the Original. The Handle is shorter, or skinnier? It's a little lighter, but the design is spot on. I'm happy for the $14 I invested because I get to experience a razor of interest. That's in my cruddy crusty user grade flea market Fat Boy price range!

Thanks Charlie. I have saw Mike's compared to Mystic Water so I wanted to give it a try. Given he had what I wanted in stock, I just decided to order now.
