NOVember MMXVII A.D. No Variation - Day One On Alum: Wu-Tang is for the Children. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a terrific Thursday!
A local restaurant is called Phô King. They have a three gallon bowl, that earns the consumer a t-shirt: "Phô King Champion"
NOVember!!! November 1 - Stalling for time Razor - Qshave Futur Clone Blade - (1) Soap - Stirling Barbershop Brush - Jayaruh #54 Post - Alum It's the alternate focus to start NOVember for me. Two packages still in transit for my planned focus. One finally arrived in NYC over the weekend and left Connecticut today to head west. The other is still in between Moscow and NYC. Looks like the Qshave razor and I are going to get well acquainted, and that's perfectly fine. I have used this razor a few times but hadn't focused on it yet. It comes with 5 blades, made in the USA (don't know where but I'm hunting) and they are Titanium coated, so they say at least. There's no branding or anything else on the blades themselves. I chose setting 2 for the razor to start the month. That puts the gap just over the Fatboy/Slim on 9. I noticed Rick went all out for #6 on his clone today and seemed to do well overall, especially given the circumstances. I decided on Stirling Barbershop with the JR54 to get the ridiculously easy lather. Seriously - instant lather nearly as fast as a can of goop but oh so much better. Two impressions. As for the razor it is heavy but not hard to control. I let the weight of the razor do all the work. Getting the angle wasn't too tough but holding it is a bit of a challenge compared to most. That funky head tends to throw me off just a bit. It provides a nice audible feedback so you know when you're on target. The #2 setting was effective and comfortable, but you know there's a gap. No doubt about that. As for the blade, well, I'll say it's ok. I'm not overly impressed. Kind of ordinary. It did do the job without pulling or tugging but there are certainly better blades out there. Still, I finished with a near-BBS after two passes and some fumbling for touchups trying to get the angle right. Nothing to complain about. I want to give one of the blades a trial through a Gillette Adjustable at some point just to see what's there by the standard I'm used to. In the meantime I'll give this blade at least another day before switching to something I trust. All in all a good start to the month!
We were all noobs once. No such thing as a bad question. I see you've gotten a couple of answers already so I'll not bore you with repeating it. LOL This bunch of guys will answer any and all questions you might have.
Thank y’all so much for the help I may have to look into getting one. Maybe it’ll teach me to stop getting razor burn lol
The "deodorant crystal" found in many pharmacies is the same stuff. Just be sure to use potassium alum. If it lists this chemical and nothing else, it's good to go as an after shave treatment.
I will do the same with a Ming Shi blade and my trusty '59 #195. The Wu Tang Muppet Style wasn't half bad either.
When my current block is done I'll replace with one of these. The plastic sleeve should protect the block from breakage. More ergonomic that the tub mine's in now. Has anyone explained to @jason koonce about the unhighjackable nature of The 30 Day Thread?

November 2, 2017 Colonial Razors General Feather Super Pro (2) Doug Korn DK7 with Druida Manchurian Nuàvia Rossa Another great shave this morning. The Rossa is very easy to lather with a wonderful post shave feel. Two passes and touch ups along my jaw line and lower right neck just missed the baby. I squeezed out the remaining lather rubbing it on my face. After cleaning the sink area, I rinsed it off and splash on some witch hazel with menthol. This same routine yesterday had the scent lingering well into lunch. I hope everyone has a great Thursday .
Thank you Jim. I really like the dishes as well. I wish he would change his mind and sell the refills for the dish.
November 2 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush la Cigale Ever-Ready 1914 Stirling Unscented PSB Vintage Old Spice AS A terrific shave this morning. Two passes and DFS. The la Cigale was terrific. I just don't use this soap often, and I don't know why. It lathers so well and slick. I finished with some Vintage Old Spice, and I am ready for my day. I hope everyone has a great day!
