  1. Great photo Jim. Have fun at the school event with your daughter.

  2. The Enabling is strong today? Not that you'd catch me doing that.

That's what has me waiting on the Maggard black and white knot. I don't think it's the same critter. Only had one person that owns both give an opinion. The Real Tux was better there, too. APShaveCo's Cashmere (in my 30 DC LE) feels the same to me.
  3. Almost there. I'd recommend the choice close. "Would you like to order it yourself or would you like me to handle it for you?"

  4. I'm with @RyX on this one, Jason. I would add that, considering the price of any kind of soap, life is also too short to use mediocre bath, shower or hand soap either. Which is the reason I just tossed my eight pucks of rotten shaving soap in the garbage today...
  5. Yup, it’s Friday, and thank for the pics. Put a smile on my face.
  6. Thank you! I’m crazy about him.

    Thank you! Very proud!

Thank you. He’s already got a flock of women in love with him.

    Thank you!
  7. Happy to help
  8. Friday evening November 3 - back to basics Rule

    Rockwell 6s on plate #4 / Topaz Platinum (1)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
The Fresh Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream (Not A Croap)
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original Rose Petal

First day of my focus now changed to a Rule.

The SOC boar whipped up a wonderful lather from the fresh TOBS cream. I went back to bowl lathering tonight and had no trouble with the boar brush. There was enough lather for the two passes I did plus a couple more.

For the last year, I have used the Rockwell on plate 3. Tonight I bumped it up to 4. A little bit more blade presence but nothing that felt too aggressive. Two passes brought me a BBS without the alum signalling any irritation anywhere. I will use plate 4 for a few more days and then bump up to 5.
  9. I hear you, John. Have put a couple posts on here already basically saying when the NOV is over on Tuesday, bye bye blue eyes... I suspect you are right about reusing it for another purpose as well.
  10. Thank you, Clint!

So...day two on a Shark SS isn't so bad. Kinda like day one, actually! Did the normal Kung-fu two pass perfection for the usual. You know. DFS. Alum was good, no blood, no errors. Think I will try for a Grail on the Magic tomorrow before I go out. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a superb Saturday!

  13. Well, my November shaves have taken a turn. No worries, I am still holding hard and fast to my 30DC brush focus. That focus is locked in.

The new news is that @Vlasta's long awaited Shave Cream Freebie package finally arrived. A number of different shave creams from around the world, packaged in small containers labled only with a number and each of which I must try and then go online and fill out a survey rating it. After all of the entrants are entered, we will find out which creams were which and see how we rated them. They range from bargain creams to top o' the line wallet drainers. Should be a fun game.

AND...I found a great condition GEM G-Bar in the wild. I visited my favorite antique store, which gets new product in often, and there she was. It was buried amongst 3 other razors that were in various stages of roached out disrepair. I gave them $6 and took it home. I paired it with today's anonymous shave cream (Simply labeled "A") and had a fantastic shave. This is easily my favorite GEM now. The shave cream had a light but pleasant scent, lathered easily and voluminously whilst using little product, was quite slick, and paired with the G-Bar left me feeling rather dapper and well shaved.

  14. Agreed. I think the Minion costume is right out -- it looks too much like a perverted Hooters getup...
  15. I suppose that means CanadaPost will get my set rushed to me some time before the end of the year...
  16. Jim, what a hunka steel! That's a very nice looking straight razor and a very cool photo effect! :D

Have a great weekend holding down the fort with the kids. Chances are fair that your Bride will return in a few days to help put the house back together.

November 3 - Stalling for time

    Razor - Qshave Futur Clone
    Blade - bic-5-chrome-platinum.jpg (1)
Soap - Route 66 Sweeney Todd
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum & Styptic

Still working with the Qshave and it stayed on 3 for today's shave. I did change to a "real" blade after two days with the Qshave blade. The Bic CP is one of my favorite non-Russian blades that I don't use nearly enough so we'll give it a go. Along with the Sweeney Todd and 30DC brush I had fantastic lather and a sharp blade to give this razor a good run for its money.

I'd have to call this a bloody good shave. No, I'm not British. The finish after two passes and touch up is smooth, smooth, smooth, as in BBS. However, I took two pretty nice sized weepers to the right side of my neck. Didn't feel anything, but I'm pretty sure the sharper Bic blade and a little extra pressure did the damage. Alum was quiet on my face, warm on my neck to hot where I got over zealous. It did almost end the bleeding but I had to use just a touch of styptic to fully stop it. So, can't call it a true BBS, but nearly so.

I'm beginning to feel this razor more intuitively. Angles are getting automatic with it and the only thing I really need to watch closely is the pressure. This thing weighs enough that it requires no help from me to do its job. Just gotta keep working on that.

Tomorrow night I'm going to go with the Bic blade again and dial up to 4. Let the games continue!

  19. Those are fun blades. Really sharp, if memory serves.
  20. Memory does indeed serve. Bic CP was actually the winner in my "Tournament of Blades" March a couple of years ago. Well, it won the "rest of the world" division then lost to the Russian winner. Surprisingly sharp and smooth, it's probably one of the most underrated blades. It deserves more time in my razors.
