I feel 19, and someone told me yesterday I look 19. So why not? Tom, way to make being a geezer cool! So far it does appear you are the oldest to have spoken up in this thread...
Tom, You got me by 11 years. Congrats on making it this far considering all the crap you have had to go through with all the bug bomb creams and the multi blade pivioting head implements they call razors these days. I started with a Gillette adjustable. Could have been either a Slim or a FB. Most likely a Slim. Did the brush and soap thing for awhile then graduated to the canned stuff for lather and eventually to the latest and greatest cartridge shaver. Did do some time with an electric and still use it on my head when I have been careless with the blade on my shaved head. You know when you get to 60 you are just not as stead handed as you once were. I am waiting for someone to get into this thread and tell us he began shaving with a stone sharpened into a make shift razor. This has been fun reading and seeing how guys can get along and be of help to one another even with several generations spread in ages.
I was with a girl in college who had me doing all types of weird stuff: watching Country Music Awards, drinking Starbucks coffee, TiVo-ing Lifetime shows. It was a difficult time. Well, not really... she was hot. She was given a modeling contract while walking around on campus. Her sister was given a modeling contract while shopping in a mall. Great genes. :love029
Bryce, that wasn't just any old stone. We had to carefully choose high grade flint and it took great skill to chip it off and have it be sharp enough to shave with. The most troublesome part was in trying to line up 2, 3, 4 and 5 pieces together to give us the best shave a man could get. Regards, Tom
Tom, I can remember my uncle talking about lining up 3 or 4 pieces of flint to make the shaver really work well. I guess that is why he had all those tiny scars on his face. Must have had a hard time with the 3 blade flint shaver. :happy102
What'd you use for shaving cream? Lucky Sabertooth Tiger belly fat or something? Applied with a Wooly Mammoth bristled brush?
I am trying to remember what I was using in college? (mid 70s) Probably an injector and canned Colgate foam, or maybe Barbosol canned foam when I was low on funds.
