Thanks Andrew! I got a chance to do some looking at those side links, and Googled some on my own about your recent haul. Fantastic!
NOVember!!! November 10 - Qshave Focus Razor - Qshave Futur Clone Blade - (2) Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Soap - Soap Commander Courage Brush - 30DC LE Post - Alum Dialed up the Qshave to 5.5 tonight. Second night on the Feather blade and the Soap Commander and 30DC brush made a very nice lather. I really don't know how much difference I would be able to tell between 5.5 and 6, but this is one full setting above last night's 4.5, so we'll see how that compares at least. The higher you set this razor the more noise it makes. Clearly it's cutting very well when it is this noisy, and it is still extremely smooth and comfortable. Again, no blood or other problems with this shave. Two passes and touch up and the baby is once again in the house. The alum is a bit warmer in spots than last night. I may have needed to adjust my technique a bit to avoid that, or it may just be the natural progression into the wider gap. Either way it wasn't a problem. I'm thinking this is as good as I had at 6, or at least comparable. I'm thinking tomorrow I may drop all the way to 1 on the razor just to do a comparison from high to low. Hope your weekend is off to a good start!
NOVember MMXVII A.D. No Variation - Day Ten We are up to day 119 on the Arko. Status quo holds. Happy Friday! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a superb weekend!
November 11 - Veteran's Day Weber SS Voskhod (1) Simpson Chubby 2 Super MdC unscented Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt-Innsbruck aftershave As you know, I'm currently comparing five different brands of Russian DE blades over 75 days - 25 blades x 3 shaves each. I'm rotating through five-packs of Voskhod, Polsilver SI, Perma-Sharp Super, Gillette Silver Blue, and Astra SP blades. I plan to use the same razor and brush and vary soap, cream, and aftershave. So far, I've shaved three times with each brand of blade. Today's shave is no. 16 with a new Voskhod blade. All the blades so far have been excellent. Unfortunately, the Polsilver and GSB didn't get a fair shake due to operator error during the first round. My initial and subjective rating is: 1. Voskhod 2. Perma-Sharp Super 3. Astra SP 4. Polsilver SI * 5. GSB * My sincere thanks to all Veterans and Active Duty Service Members!
It's a no shave day for me. My son and I are on a hunting trip today. I did want to send a special thanks to our veterans (@Douglas Carey) for all they have done for us. Your service has allowed me the opportunity to spend this day with my son. Happy Veterans' Day.
Happy Veteran’s Day! For those who served, thank you! I have about 30 pages to catch up in. @PLAla, I’m glad your family ok after the accident.
November 11, 2017 OneBlade Genesis Modified Gem PTFE (1) Zenith B2 Boar Nuàvia Rossa I changed out the brass General for the OneBlade Genesis. In the past I have used the Genesis almost exclusively with the Feather FHS blades the razor was designed to use. I did try a Gem blade with the the spine removed. While the de-spined blade worked it would not lock into the razor. I decided to fully modify a Gem blade to not only work in the razor but lock into place like the Feather FHS. The first step in the process is to remove the spine on the back of the razor. The second step is to enlarge the semi circular cutouts on the side of the blade. I used a 5/32 hole punch to enlarge the cutouts toward the sharp edge of the razor. With this done, the blade fits and locks into place. The Feather FHS blades work wonderfully but do not last very long. Maybe the modified Gem blades will last longer. Plus this is another way for me to use up a tray of 100 Gem blades. Now onto the shave. The big Zenith boar whipped up a rich slick lather. With the modified Gem blade loaded I went with a traditional 3 pass shave. After touch ups along my jawline and lower right neck, I had the baby in sight. A little more lather on my lower right neck and some buffing ended in a perfect BBS that would make a Drill Sgt. blush. I hope everyone has a great Saturday. Happy Veteran's Day. Thank you to all that served.
Another fine shave with the TSD Splash/Russian Leather. Next shave soap in line for me is Rte 66-Cavendish scent. Teams up great with Clubman Special Reserve A.S.

No shave for me today. We are traveling over to Starkville, Mississippi to see my best friend and his family for a night. Their little daughter is being christened tomorrow at church and they've asked me to be her godfather. I was honored to be asked. So we're going over to watch football and have some beers and catch up. A special thank you to all of our veterans on this 2017 Veterans Day!
