Okay, time for another round of "Would You Shave With This?"...

We've talked a bit about shaving with various soaps which are not "shaving soaps". We've also discussed shaving with various non-soaps. When I was in Chapel Hill, NC last weekend, the Red Roof Inn provided this soap-shaped object:
    IMG_0125.JPG IMG_0126.JPG
    A "Bath & Body Cleanser".

I did shower with it and felt clean afterwards, though I'm not sure if I felt "cleansed". I did not try and shave with it as I'm not even sure what it is. Heck, I'm not even sure I'd challenge @NCoxSTL to shave with it.

    Thoughts?

My bet is its more of a detergent bar then an actual saponified soap.

I personally see no problem whatsoever with challenging someone else to shave with it. As for doing it yourself, well....

I suspect that Andrew may be right about it being more a detergent than a soap. In which case, slickness, cushion, glide, etc. may all be somewhat lacking.

Now that I'm shaving again with a renewed focus on the basics, my first shave with the Polsilver this morning was excellent. I had a darn fine shave after the first pass. I opted for a second pass with a few more touch-ups, and I'm as near BBS as I can get. I perform some WTG strokes on my first pass, but most strokes on both passes are either ATG or XTG. I haven't used the alum bar lately, so I tried it this morning and found it to be "sparking" (thanks to @RyX, the long lost and recently found taller brother of @NCoxSTL, for this new term in our shaving vernacular). Overall, it was an extremely close and comfortable shave. I find the Polsilvers to be sharper and a bit less smooth than the Voskhods, but they're indeed an excellent blade. I consider them to be my Russian Feathers.

The Soap Destroyer is knocking the socks off the Caste Forbes Lavender. I hope this tub lasts through my Russian blade focus. It's a great shaving cream in every way - slickness, protection, and scent. Lavender is my favorite scent, and CF does it best. I'm glad I gave this cream a try, and I would certainly consider it again.

Friends, I hope you all have a great day.

Thank you Andrew and Doug. I am much better this week. The Gastroenterologist gave me prescribed a new medication last week. I had a horrible reaction to the meds that ended when we discontinued the drug. So I am doing pretty well. I just have to guard against being hyper alert to abdominal issues.

    Razor: Gillette Red Tip
    Blade: Personna Tungsten (9)
Brush: El Druida Red Heart Chakte Kok/African Blackwood 2 Band
    Soap: Nuavia Blu
    A/S: Floid Blue

Really enjoying this setup this month. I is very easy to get a near BBS or BBS shave every time.
