  8. Thank you Douglas. The Vie-Long is incredibly soft, medium backbone. The Beehive handles have become one of my favorites; they fit well in my hand. If I am not mistaken, you have a beautiful President as well. It's a pleasure to use. :)
  9. That is a excellent question! I have another 1901 and the handle is more "ornate"... I think it is original as I seen others with it? I noticed it has threads to screw on handle for wedge stropping - that handle did not come with it - but this was an estate sale find from a ebay person that did not have other razors for sale - and lucky me there were no other bidders - I was shocked at how clean and how tight the blade stops were - excellent shave - the ALUM felt warm - I probably was off on the handle here and there - but for a razor that is really aggressive and looks viscous - it was VERY SMOOTH!
  10. Thanks MATT!! I was kinda confused and I am learning the complex lather catcher history. So 1902 does make sense! since the modern blade fits - that is one thing I have not dived into - wedge blades - I had one that was in good shape (never used it though) and I dropped it on tile and chipped the freaking corner - this razor came with a rusty wedge - someday I will luck out with some clean wedge blades - but I can say a unmolested modern blade fit in perfect and was no issue! thanks for the handle information as well :) I will shave with my other razor (same as this - different handle) in next few days - the history on these are hard to find - so I think I need to buy that Tom Waits book..
  11. Yes I do have a President as well. It is an excellent razor. I also have a few Beehive handle brushes. They do fit my hand and are a joy to use.

  20. I assume the "Tom" was a joke, as the singer/songwriter, Tom Waits had nothing to do with "The Safety Razor Compendium" by Robert K. Waits. Said Compendium is where I derived my information regarding your Kampfe.
