I'm eleven shave in on my new Ming Shi / Futur clone. Tried several blades, but setting 4-1/2 to 5 seems to be the sweet spot. It's a huge blade gap, but riding the cap makes it a smooth no error procedure. Keep going, it's a fun DE.

Hey Lloyd - what a pleasure to hear from you again! No, I haven't. In fact I didn't know that such a razor existed!
Tonight's shave was with a German made, for the USA, razor. I had a very nice 2 pass shave, that left with a DFS. Zero issues, just a very nice shaver. Razor- "BOSS" by A.W.Wadsworth & Son. Germany. For the Fischer Hardware Co. Brush- B400 By Tom Soap- Stirling Spice Aftershave- Florida Water
Saturday's Shave Proraso Pre Shave Fine Snake Bite Jayaruh #241 H. Böker 5/8 CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Barbasol AS I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Fine Snake Bite Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #241 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the H. Böker 5/8 straight and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Ahh man...google it! It looks like a must have for all lovers of Ming Shi... Yo, @RyX ...Please post a pic of your new Ming Shi here, so yehuda can check it out, please...
Glad to share Lloyd! I liked the looks of the Merkur Futur, but it's outside my usual price range. Then some enterprising Chinese folks cloned them after the copyright ran out. As I understand from those who know The MingShi 2000S is shorter of handle and slightly lighter, but has all the massive blade gap of the original. Another company markets the QShave. Same price range and engineering. Here it is, fresh out of the box from Andrew's @Linuxguile Shave Shop on Etsy. Adjusment is made by gripping the top and rotating the handle between .5 and 6. No clicks. It's smooth resistance at any point in the range. Here's the top cap off. Takes any modern DE blade. I've used Personna Lab Blues, Gillette Nacet, and am currently enjoying a Feather Hi-Stainless at setting 5. Some users have has issues with the handle being slippery. Not a problem for me. Others I've seen using them include Neal @NCoxSTL , @ sdguero, and @Vlasta who posted a video of the easy disassembly procedure.
