November 21 SOTD: PAA Atomic Rocket Brush PAA Sangre de Drago PAA Alpha Ecliptic Bakelite Stirling Unscented PSB PAA Sangre de Drago AS A few new items today, all from PAA. The brush is huge, much larger than I expected. It performs much like the Stirling Kong, but I like the handle quite a bit more. This soap and AS scent is really great. The soap has a bit more of the powder scent to it, which I assume is the Sandalwood. The AS splash has a bit more.of a tree sap kind of scent, which I believe is the Sangre de Drago. I have honestly never smelled Sangre de Drago, so this is just a guess. In both cases the Oud pokes through as well. My kids all like the AS, so it appears to be a winner. This razor is definitely different, and puts a new meaning to Ride the Cap, as I just held it flush with my face. I got a nice shave for a near BBS on two passes. The bakelite is definitely light, so that took a little getting used to. It was a nice start to my Tuesday. I hope everyone has a great day!
Great description of your new gear, Jim. That razor looks really interesting. By 'ecliptic', does that mean it is a slant?
At Survey Headquarters, we see that Tri-Focus appears to be pulling away from Turkey Baby, but we still need a few more days before we can project a winner.
Thank you, Jason. It is a slant, modeled after another razor (can't remember which at the moment). It doesn't twist the blade like a lot of other slants, rather the head is at an angle to the handle. It does seem to work well. For $20 I figured it was worth a try.

I'm glad that I can stand with you and commiserate in the suffering of the misplaced menthol. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Thanks Andrew. If I had to pick only one, it would be the Voskhod. It's super smooth, sharp enough, and the cheapest blade of the lot. I'm noticing minute differences between the blades, but I actually like them all. I completed my 5th shave with the Perma-Sharp Super today, and I don't feel like I'm pushing the blade. This is the first time I've ever used a DE blade that long. I attribute the longevity to what I consider my refocused focus. I'm gonna go day by day and see how far this little sucker will go. It'll be fun to try this with the other Russian blades too. I hope you're having a nice week. What a blessing for you and your Bride to celebrate your first Thansksgiving with Logan.
I dunno, Clint. My old gray beard has gotten wiry. When you get to be an old retired guy like me, you may only get 15 shaves from a Gem blade. You better switch to a straight before you're stuck on a fixed income.
Thank you, Charlie! Today is my last day at work this week and I'm looking forward to some family time, and turkey of course! I hope you have a nice holiday too!
Great set up today, Jim. Congrats on the new acquisitions. I'm tempted to pick up a bakelite razor, so I'll be interested in your evaluation of the PAA after a few shaves. Happy Thanksgiving.
