  1. Well written Neal! Not only is TSD the best forum, the 30DC is the best group on the Internet. I have learned so much here and have met so many friendly people that I look forward to my daily check-ins.

Very quite around the house this morning. The girls went out shopping last night so they are still racked out. I might even brave the crowds later today to shop at the sporting goods store. A very nice relaxing shave makes for a good start to the day. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
  12. Beautiful razor, Adam!

  20. Friday morning November 24 - still with the Simpsons mini focus

Delta Echo Ink black Gillette Fatboy on 4 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
    Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic brush
Simpsons Lavender + Vetivert shaving cream
Alum and TSD Milk Aftershave Lavender

Like yesterday's Vanilla +Rose, today's Lavender + Vetivert smells mainly of the second listed item. The scent is overwhelmingly spicy grass with the lavender in there somewhere as a background note. Fortunately, while I am a big fan of lavender scents, I also really like vetiver. If you want straight lavender, go with Castle Forbes or TOBS creams. If you want a combo with a strong lavender note, Supply's Lost Provence (lavender, blue sage and basil) or Route 66 Lavender Woods is better. If you want a great vetiver with some lavender in a supporting role, this one will float your boat. I like it.

Shave performance was excellent as usual with the Simpsons creams. Today I squeezed out the CH2 Synthetic, then got a small dab of cream on the bristles and bowl lathered with a tablespoonful of water. The result was enough creamy lather for three face covering passes with a bit left over to be squeezed out of the knot at the end. Good slip and glide, and I did three passes with zero irritation, so protection was clearly good too.

I wasn't trying for a BBS today, but my face feels like the baby crawled into the hallway anyway. Silent alum. The TSD milk aftershave gave me an openly lavender finish.

Tomorrow I will try the last Simpsons cream - the unscented. From sniffing the tub, I get absolutely no scent at all, so I expect it will be a truly neutral cream. Performance will be the only thing that matters.
