Tonight's shave was with an Old Cast Iron Wedge of a Stubtail. I had a very nice, near silent, 2 pass shave, that left me with a DFS. One of my favorites to use.

Razor- W.Greaves & Sons. Cast Iron Wedge, Stubtail.
    Brush- B400 By Tom
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood
    Aftershave- Florida Water

Touched up the blade and gave it some time with the Arkie. This one is a wonderful shaver!

Very good shave off the black arkie. This razor was probably shaveable as it was but I took it to a true hard arkansas then to the black. I've been reading up on Arkansas stones and read a tip to use crox on the stone and then buff it out for a nice shinny finish to the surface of the stone. I definately ended up with a shinny stone alibi with a green tint and went to sharpening. It seemed to degrade the surface after sharpening. Genuis that I am, I refinshed the stone in the tradition manner and figured maybe I did something wrong with the crox. Anyway, I cleaned up the wheel thinking I had put to much on and tried again.
I had similar result. I'm done with crox. Now I might have did something wrong but 2 times is enough for me. So if crox works for you, great but it won't see the surface of my stones again. I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get the surface back where I want it. One thing I've noticed with a good shave (with the arkie) is that there is almost no post shave burn when applying aftershave, something that doesn't seem to happen with other sharpening methods I use. I really like this shavemac knot. I swear you can lather a brick with it. I find it a little prickly or scritchy but very doable for me and it seems to be improving with use. Have a good one.

Today I took the beast of Sheffield to my face! It is my new Wade and Butcher, 13/16ths near wedge razor, beautifully restored by Dean, who is @alpla444 on the forum. I'm sorry, the picture does it no justice. When I first picked this up, I thought that there would be no way I could shave with it; it felt incredibly heavy and cumbersome compared to my usual straight which is a 5/8ths or 10/16ths, it's funny how the latter sounds much bigger.

Three gentle passes with no irritation at all! Seriously no alum block sting at all. I didn't even know that was possible. I think the weight really helped with the shave. Flipping awesome!

BTW: it's sat on a Weishi box. Oh, the shame of it!

I love this razor! I use it the most out of my collection. C-Mon Blackie. Took me many hours to restore and to make it shave ready. Well worth it!

Tonight's shave was with an Uber Sharp blade. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, with BDBS results. It might look worn, but this razor is high performance.

Razor- "Griffon Cutlery Works #35" Germany. Made for The Darrow & Comstock Co. New London Conn.

    Straight shave Sunday returns!

Another successful shave with my Joseph Rodgers Cutler to their Majesty. I'm not sure if my strop technique or my blade angle is to blame. I'm going to strop more and hope for the best but def had more tugging today. Again I had a 3 day growth which is pretty long and it doesn't help but I had been too busy traveling.

That said no nicks or cuts and a good smooth shave, wife even commented on how smooth I was so I was happy.[IMG]

Da comrade! And it was made in the same factory where his side arm was likely manufactured right before the Nazis invaded. @mlys7884 sells them and some history of the factories can be found on his russianrazors.com site. (Yes, that was a shameless plug as he’s never steered me wrong.) :D
