Gentlemen, thanks for the kind words. It brings a tear of joy to this old scrap booker's eye. Happy Monday! My second round with a GSB blade is going very well. The shaves have been terrific each morning. I'm going for 7 shaves on the blade.
We'd welcome you initially with open arms, Paul. If we have second thoughts later, we have some nice jails here. Just kidding. Looavul is a friendly place. Everyone has put up with me for years!
Y'know, actually, now as I think about it, I should apologize. My pronounciation-"Lou-EEE-ville" sounds just as different to the spelling as does what most resents say.
Friendliness is a key quality for my eventual move location. I'm just an East-Coast born guy with a West-Coast frame of mind. KY would be far enough away, but I still have my other favorites.
Thank you guys. I still feel like crap but I did make it into the office. Honestly, I am not sure I am doing any good here but it felt like a small win anyway.
Thank you, John. This Sudsy Soapery soap is definitely a top-tier performer. It is very soft, I would call it a croap, actually. The scent does take some getting used to. It is very earthy, almost pungently so. I guess that would be the fir needles. Great face feel and about the same amount of menthol as Proraso Green. As for comparison to others for lather, I put it in my top 'band' with First Canadian, B&M Reserve and Glissant lines, Jeeves and Stirling. Picking a best lather would be really tough for me from that group.
November 27, 2017 Razor: NDC Post-War Tech/D1 Gillette TV Special Blade: Gillette Rubie Super Stainless (2)/Astra SP Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum. Listerine, WH Shave #2 with the NOS Rubie Stainless and a milder razor- a post-War Tech. From the start, this did not go well. Lots of tugging and discomfort. I finished the WTG pass and made the decision to bin this blade. I'm not sure if age did not treat it well or if was never a great blade to begin with but I decided to move on from this mistake. For the ATG pass, I grabbed the TV Special which was already loaded with an Astra SP with an unknown number of shaves. No issues from that combo, though, except for a small cut by my nose from a complete technique fail. Let's call the whole thing a DFS and move on.
