Boy are we ever off to a running start! Eight pages and gaining and it's only day 1! I love it! Even the conversation and pictures are decadent this month so far! Now, I had an idea of starting the month with something a little more along the lines of "Soviet decadent" just to have some fun, but I couldn't resists just having a great shave with some of my best stuff. @John Ruschmeyer has already pointed out the decadence of the Aristocrat, in any of its forms, and @PLAla called it right when he chose the Fat for the opening soap. I had chosen the same in both cases. I've also decided to include the Stirling pre-shave soap in every shave this month. The light menthol scent it adds as well as the great face feel and slickness of the bar really adds a level of luxury that I'm going to enjoy guilt-free. Whip it all up with the Wolf and load that Aristocrat with the one, the only, the legendary Voskhod and..............

Two passes and touch ups, the baby is in the house, my face is smooth and soft and I feel like a true Czar (as opposed to the fake one I claim to be). Great way to start what looks like a great month around here. Thanks to everyone in the 30DC for a fantastic November. I'm thinking December is going to be even better this year.

RAZOR: Micro Touch One - TTO DE and a good shaver
BLADE: Astra Superior Platinum DE blade - 9th shave with this blade - RETIRED after shave.
PREP: hot water shower with Zest Soap and rinse
BRUSH: VDH Boar - from the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set - fourth use from new.
MUG: repurposed coffee/soup Mug
PRESHAVE: Tree Hut Shea Body Butter - Coconut Lime - adds nice moisture & slickness
SOAP: Hybrid Soap Col.Conk LIME & Williams Mug Shave soap
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse followed by application of CRYSTAL deodorant (deodorant stone - potassium alum)
AFTERSHAVE: Barber Shop Classics BOOSTER ICED LIME

3+Pass shave with many touch-up passes under neck and chin. Too much work for the BBS with this mild razor. Blade retired directly after shave.

RAZOR: BOSS 3 Piece Extra Heavyweight - All Metal Textured Safety Razor Long Handle (4 inch handle, 4.8 ounces)
BLADE: Dorco Platinum ST-300 - 3rd use of this blade.
PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory Soap
PRE SHAVE: bloom water from hybrid shave soap.
BRUSH: Shea Moisture Badger Brush - black badger knot.
MUG: repurposed coffee/soup Mug
SOAP: Hybrid (blended) Col. Conk Bay Rum + VDH Luxury Shave Soap- face lather
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse
AFTER SHAVE: Gillette AS Gel

Good shave - 2-pass BBS with touchups. soap left face dry - Gillette gel was of some help, but felt dry later in the day.

SOTD December 1, 2017
RAZOR: Sabi 3-piece - chrome (3 inch handle, medium weight)- a mildly aggressive razor for me.
BLADE: PACE DE (5 pack) - made in Vietnam - this is likely the 7th or 8th shave with this blade.
PREP: hot water face wash with Barbury Soap, followed by hot water rinse
PRE SHAVE: none
CREAM: Gillette Venus (with OLAY) Vanilla Cashmere shave gel
BRUSH: none- apply by hand
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse, followed by Clubman Jumbo Styptic
AFTER SHAVE: Pinaud Clubman Vanilla
BALM: None

Got a nice 3-pass DFS with this razor/blade. Maybe it is about time to replace the blade.
Found this Venus Shave Gel at Ollie's Outlet store, for a few pennies more than Barbasol.
I was surprised at how protective this lather was- BUT the scent was excellent! Very aromatic and completely delicious.
I was looking for a better moisturized face after this shave. The shave gel seemed to help with that.
Somehow a song popped into my head during this shave... "I'm your Venus!"

My dear friend Brian had a wonderful BBS shave, and guess what - so did I!

Three passes with the Glacial Lemon Chill soap's frigid lather whipped up so rich and slick with my trusty Plissoft synthetic were a cinch for my cherished 1950's Super Speed. The Astra blade is showing some little signs of fatigue, but I'm sure I could squeeze one more good shave out of it for tomorrow. The Glacial Lemon Chill balm and witch hazel felt so heavenly-soothing, moisturizing, as well as icy. By the way, the mentholated pre-shave soap which Rod makes is unbeatable for cleaning and softening the stubble - shukran, ya battal!

Same set up as yesterday's perfect BBS shave. Why change a good thing? The Astra SP felt as smooth and sharp on it's 7th tour around my face as it did on the 2nd.
