  1. If I were currently in a position to be dropping large sums of money on customs, I would be ordering, not coveting.
  2. Thanks, Bruce! I shaved 11 hours ago and the post-shave feel is still tremendous! And the itch is gone. :happy036:

  4. My last trip to Macau was lucky:hooray: for a change, it usually ends :sad027:. Fortunately logged on before going back to the tables :lam:and ended up with the razor. :scared011:
  5. I did a No Shave November a few years ago and ended up keeping it for months. I looked like a terrorist. Or a hillbilly. The “itch phase” has kept me from doing it again. I have a fairly heavy, dense beard that grows quickly. But, man! About a week of itch is more than I can stand.
  6. I got some beard oil and beard & scruff cream ahead of time in anticipation of the itch. Although the products did help ease the itch, I could not tolerate the stench of the products. I ended up using some of my post shave balms and they helped with the itch at least for awhile. As I mentioned, the chin hair isn't bothering me and it's coming in thicker than the cheeks were anyway. My bride will be happy with that... until I shave it. ;)

  7. Sure. Ask me about Toggles. Know that I want one. Then throw one in my face on the first shave of the month. Well played, sir, well played!

  12. Excellent! And the best people always keep their goatee. Besides, I look older without it! Great shave and the Clone is a great choice for a heavy beard with that exposure. You're off and running!

  15. Decadent December!!!

    December 1

    Razor - 1946-'47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (1)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Boy are we ever off to a running start! Eight pages and gaining and it's only day 1! I love it! Even the conversation and pictures are decadent this month so far! Now, I had an idea of starting the month with something a little more along the lines of "Soviet decadent" just to have some fun, but I couldn't resists just having a great shave with some of my best stuff. @John Ruschmeyer has already pointed out the decadence of the Aristocrat, in any of its forms, and @PLAla called it right when he chose the Fat for the opening soap. I had chosen the same in both cases. I've also decided to include the Stirling pre-shave soap in every shave this month. The light menthol scent it adds as well as the great face feel and slickness of the bar really adds a level of luxury that I'm going to enjoy guilt-free. Whip it all up with the Wolf and load that Aristocrat with the one, the only, the legendary Voskhod and..............

Two passes and touch ups, the baby is in the house, my face is smooth and soft and I feel like a true Czar (as opposed to the fake one I claim to be). Great way to start what looks like a great month around here. Thanks to everyone in the 30DC for a fantastic November. I'm thinking December is going to be even better this year.

    Day One

    IMG_1493.JPG

This one is for @Drygulch! Thanks Adam.

Late to the party, so you've probably heard about the soap. I really enjoy the scent, and it stood up to the thick UK steel and provided the base for a nice two pass. It's not often that I break out the true straight razors, but with Adam sending me a new soap, I decided to use an old razor he sent me for learning. This was one of three straights I used to learn the process of strop and shave. No honing here, I leave that to the SR experts. The plan this month is to be Decadent in the self-indulgent sense this month. Each day's shave will be inspired by something I read here or see in my day. No plan, probably lots of higher end, thirty more times! Other than that....glad everyone is back around for ROUND 36 (can you believe that?) of the 30DC....all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a great December!

Big day today... getting together with some brothers this morning at 7 am, going with my Bride to see Dr. Seuss' Grinch at the Kentucky Center for the Arts this afternoon and then on to our Sunday School Class Christmas party tonight. It's an all out, hammer down, no holds barred full social calendar, and I'm totin' my AARP card in case I run across any impromptu senior discounts. If the mood strikes, I may treat my Bride to a 97-cent coffee at the truck stop in our discount travel cup on the way to the theater. :love055: It's a good thing I started off with a great shave that will last all day and way into the night as we could be out after dark. dude.gif

I hope you all have a fun Saturday!

Thank you. For a single soap, this one has become my favorite. Stirling is still my top maker, but for one soap, this is it for me right now.
