I was talking to myself, trying to keep my mouth shut Not directed at you, Doug, or anyone else. Didn't work
Wow, more than 100 postings overnight, I will have to catch up later. Tuesday's decadent shave: MdC is decadent but for me, it is just good unless I add some liquid lanolin. Then it is decadent. The lather was super slick and I knew it was going to be a fantastic shave. Today's razor is my Cobra Classic, I have tried many of the other "Feather Pro blade" razors and this one came out tops for me. The shave was all that plus I finished with YLS Rive Gauche, my favourite fougére. Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Razor: Cobra Classic (Feather Pro) Brush: Paladin Pre: Proraso Soap: MdC with liquid lanolin added AS: Speick AS, Antaeus ASB Scent: YSL Rive Gauche
"Souse," I like souse! Hear, ye! Hear, ye! From this moment on, all who desire to place water on or over their soap shall hereby declair they have soused, they are sousing, or will souse their soap!
Souse it shall be. I'll help you kick off a new slang fad with the hipsters. Youtube series idea! We'll souse our soap with canned PBR while wearing Barbasol T-shirts. You can give advice on proper handlebar style and care, I'll just make fun of the audience.
Episode two: We debate palm stropping modern coated stainless DE blades in the first segment; You show them how to roast some killer Kenyan beans in part two.
We should probably leave the synthetic brush debate alone, though. I almost got my card pulled over that topic the last time it appeared.
When the mail arrived in the late afternoon today, it included my new ivory-handled Kent BK12 brush. At first I thought the brush was a bit larger than my others but not all that much bigger. Then I wet it down and did a test lather with my Italian frankensoap, and the knot spread out to its fully loaded size.... Holy cow, this thing is immense! If the Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic is the Soap Destroyer, then this thing is the Soap Aircraft Carrier! I will have to use my new Junichi Tanaka scuttle with it simply because my normal horn lathering bowl is too shallow to handle it! I won't start using it until I am finished the Mystery Cream Challenge because I am trying to keep the hardware variables uniform during those tests, but once I am done I foresee some truly decadent shaves with this brush and my frankensoap and maybe The Fat. I also foresee some incredibly rapid holes being dug through some of my soap inventory...
Hmmm.. Just checked The Haul thread, no pics there. No pics here. Hmmm... sorry John, just having a hard time believing your story without pics
Good point. Here's the newly launched Soap Aircraft Carrier with the puny little Soap Destroyer alongside it for comparison :
Thanks for the kind words, Andrew. I get a lot more from my sweet kids than I could ever give them. This has been a lifeline for me in retirement. Mondays rock!
