December 11, 2017 Razor: L4 Gillette Tech Blade: German Wilkie (3) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine, WH Not a lot to say about this shave; definitely not decadent. Yesterday's shave was kind of late and, rather than skip today, I went for one pass with a mild razor. I'm going to call it a CCS with no issues and move on. I'll do this the right way tomorrow.
You can get the Yaqi brushes on Aliexpress in individual quantities. No loose knots though. Beautiful photo, Clint! Awesome shot, Jim! Fantastic photo, Perry! Amazing stup, Brian! Very nice Charlie! I'm glad to see the MonoBilt is treating you well, Jason! Awesome shot, Mark!
Yes, the MonoBilt is a keeper, no doubt. I just arranged to have it replated. It won't be going in for a little bit, but I figured as long as I arranged it before the end of the month I'd be fine for NB '18...
SOTN DECember 10th RazoRock Baby Smooth Lord Platinum Class Yaqi Professional 30mm (Cruiser Class) Stirling MITA Barbasol Pacific Rush ASB Last nights shave was a bit of a juxtaposition. I decided to revisit the Lord Platinum Class blade and was immediately reminded why I don't like them, tuggy. Yet, after 3 tuggy passes I was left with a BBS shave that lasted through the night and into this morning. First use of the behemoth 30mm Yaqi solid black knot, yes it is a beast and quite dense but it lacks the backbone that the 28mm Tuxedo style has. Rather it feels more like a black fiber plisson type knot. Still very nice and can cover the whole side of your face when fully splayed. Another plus is the handle feels great in the hand, the two ridges in the middle make it really easy to hold on to. With every shave more and more of the bottom of the tub become visible on my MITA sample, really pleased with the rate I am using up this soap. Have a great day my friends!
My goodness, these are becoming more artistic all the time! Looks like 'Scrapbookin Charlie' @wristwatchb has rubbed off on us. I was able to find his fall flyer earlier...
Thank you, Jason! Thanks Clint! I'm really starting to love the bigger brushes. The Soap Destroyer was my gateway drug.
Broke out the Geo Wostenholm and Son IXL Razor that just came back from @HolyRollah's shop. This razor is a survivor, but won't win any beauty contests. Original scales and lead wedge, with some pretty significant pitting on the blade and tang. Pretty sure this is the ugly sibling to the razor with the stars on the scales that @Keithmax posted a few days ago. Just a hair over 7/8 and a heavy grind, listed as hollow ground, but close to a wedge. Fresh Jnat edge from Kevin. TSD Purple Rain soap and aftershave, a tribute to Prince for the software. Three passes, and just about caught the baby. Great shave today.
Timeless OC .95 Scalloped @Jayaruh 223 Kai (2) Stirling Rose After 3 days with the Blackbird, I broke out the Timeless to gauge the difference. More blade feel to the BB. The 95 was smoother and more forgiving it seemed. My face is over daily shaving with these beasts. I need to take a few days off. First day with the Rose. I'm on the fence. It did not feel as slick as other Stirling soaps.
