  2. More Decadence

First a big shout out and thank you to Adam, @Drygulch for sending me a gift of Jeeves soap all the way across the Pacific. :happy036:

Not being a fan of bay rum scents I was very pleasantly surprised, this soap smells very nice. Perfect for cold winter weather. Would I extend my record with a 5th epic shave ina row? Almost but just missed it, still a fantastic shave.

  3. I couldn't quite understand the comments on Chiseled Face, other than they are based in Ontario, California.

  4. I see. I don't follow FB or Reddit so I'm out of those loops. When I noticed the omission, I searched the site and had a hard time finding any mention of Stirling. I suppose that shoulda been a sign.

  5. West Coast Shaving just sent me an e-mail on "Essential Oils vs. Fragrance Oils". Haven't yet read it, but it should be interesting.

  6. Interesting indeed. A report would be appreciated. I just counted no less than 9 Stirling scents I use regularly in the fragrance oil line. None but Rose bother me.

  12. Decadent December!!!

    December 12 - It's TOGGLE TIME!

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Stirling Ben Franklin
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

It was a beautiful sunny day today and the temperature was a balmy 36 degrees (F), so a perfect day to take a walk over to the river. SWMBO went along and I took along my gear for tonight. Hey, the Toggle might as well meet the mighty Missouri while it's here. We cut the walk a bit short due to that 36 degree balminess, but had a nice walk anyway. And, tonight I had a wonderful shave with the Toggle on 6 and the third night on the Sharp Star.

Stirling Ben Franklin is an interesting scent but it's pleasant and unique. I like it. Two passes, touch up, baby or close enough, alum was quiet, nothing better. As with my other Gillette Adjustables, the 6 setting seems tuned in for perfection.

Back to work tomorrow as my Monday has arrived. Hope your week is going great!

  13. I can’t ever let any of my shave gear get on TSD, otherwise it’s bound to revolt since I never take any of it out for walks to spend time in nature. Poor stuff just sits all cooped up in the bathroom, no opportunity for recreation or exercise. Maybe I’m just a terrible owner. :angry017:

Great job Neal! Nice photo and write up!

  14. Jayaruh #54 is a beautiful brush. The grain and color of the wood really stand out in that photo. Oh and that loaner Toggle doesn't look too bad either. :)

Played bass until it hurt, that's how à good Tuesday ends. Started with a riff, plugged in some stuff... And then it was three hours later. Now that my amplifier is powered down...all is quiet in Colorado.
  16. I still feel like I won the lottery when the JR54 was still available the first time I saw it. How it survived his birthday sale I'll never know, but I'm glad it did!
  17. Thank you Bruce! When I stage my photos I set all the other gear behind with the razor in front. If my phone's camera catches focus on the razor it blurs the background. I used Snapseed App to enhance the lens blur, as it accentuates the foreground razor.

Shh... don't give away the secret to my love life ;)

I know Tabasco well. Lived just down the road in New Iberia back in the 1980's.

That's getting into the zone where I found my best service with the Ming Shi.
It's a fun razor considering how it gives Futur like shaves at a bargain price.

I forget who I first saw using a Suribachi, but it's my lather bowl of choice. Used in the kitchen to grind sesame seeds and such. If you have sample soaps or creams they can be mashed into the grooves to hold em still while making lather.
  18. Love the new Avatar, Chris! I wish you would have asked me, I had already found one for you:
