Great photo Charlie. I really like the background. Wonderful photo Jim . Very co Fantastic photo Mark. The brush is gorgeous.
Thanks Clint! It's one of my favorite brushes. It's unfortunate that Scott is no longer making shaving brushes.
I decided to embrace the decadence today with a Thater Cocobolo brush, my replated gold Aristocrat, and Wholly Kaw with Donkey Milk. Doesn’t get much more decadent than that. My only problem was that the Aristocrat, being a bit too mild for my liking, makes a BBS tough to achieve. However, loading it up with a new feather helped coax a BBS- out of it. Cheers!
December 13 , 2017 OneBlade Genesis Modified Gem PTFE (7) “Tres Amigos” Simpson CH2 Synthetic Oleo El Caballero Captain's Choice Bay Rum A change of software and hardware this morning. I unexpectedly received a tub of Oleo El Caballero shaving soap as a Christmas gift from @Douglas Carey . Thank you Doug for the generous gift. I have had Oleo on my try list of soaps so I couldn't wait to give it a go. The scent of the soap is a cross between bay rum and cologne which I find very pleasing. The "Tres Amigos" CH2 synthetic was the perfect brush for my first use of the soap. The soap was easy to lather into a rich slick lather. The slickness and post shave feel are excellent. Overall Oleo is a very nice soap and I know I will enjoy using it over the coming year. The shave itself was an uneventful near perfect 3 pass shave with touch ups. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
Nice set up, Randy. I have to Chypre Rose Concerto AS, and I love the scent. I may have to pick up some of the soap as well.
SOTD December 13, 2017 Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM stainless Razor: GEM G-Bar Brush: JR #60 synthetic Lather: Scots Pine Sheep Post: Witch hazel, Scots Pine aftershave WTG, touch up Changed the razor but kept the other elements from yesterday's shave. Tried the same method of a dry brush and loading on top of moistened soap, continuing to add tiny bits of water and load load load. That works really well with this brush and soap. Unfortunately I ended up with a couple of weepers on my chin and it felt a little rough in that area. I might need a new blade or I could chalk it up to sleepy shaving. But that happens from time to time and that's okay. Great photos and shaves this month! The crew is definitely on top of their game. Have a great day!
Thanks gentlemen! I'm going unscented today, as I'm spending time with my kiddos at the hospital. I'm looking forward to it. I hope you all have as much fun as me today.
Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap B-400 Brush by Tom Mongoose Razor Feather Super Pro Blade Lucky Tiger Have fun!
Gem Clog Pruf Gem Stainless (6) Semogue BC Texugo Stirling Rose Soap Commander Love ASB Just about the same shave as yesterday, but swapped the brush for a badger. I still had a slight reaction to something in the soap, but wasn't nearly as bad as yesterday. If I would have added a drop or two of M-Bomb, I likely wouldn't have noticed today. I'm going to keep with it (at least until I get the same reaction as yesterday), as I really like the scent of this soap.
