  1. Excellent review of the Key Lime, John. Agreed, it was an awesome gift from @Drygulch. I matched mine with Florida Water, and I found it a nice pairing. I believe you have some of that as well.

  2. Might just have to try that scent. I've got a couple of Pinaud lime AS.
The Jeeves Bay Rum goes well with Florida water, too! Thanks Adam!

  3. After a few crazy days at work, I managed to get caught up on the thread, but haven’t Den able to comment on what great pics you have been adding. It has been an awesome month!

Another crappy hotel shave..... ( The hotel, not the shave)

    -Stirling Agar

I wasn’t especially in the mood for a cold water shave tonight, but since there was no hot water coming out of the bathroom sink, I decided cold was just what I needed.
  4. Decadent: self-indulgent

  7. Decadent December!!!

    December 13 - It's TOGGLE TIME!

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (7)
    Blade - feather-yellow-box.jpg (1)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

We're on the final three shaves to setting Neal - and as a reward for your patience I thought I'd finish off with a nod to the Yakuza and drop in the Feather. Nothing like going super sharp as the gap increases to max, eh? With my experience with Gillette Adjustables it should be easy.

Soap for the night is Soap Commander Courage. Once again I have to say I don't give this soap enough love, and once again it does absolutely nothing except produce a first rate super slick lather. Can't ask for anymore than that. I need to work this one in more. The JR46 was its usual efficient and decadent self.

Two passes and a bit of touch up and the baby is in the house without any questions asked. The alum was a bit vocal but not bad except for one spot on my left jawline. There it stung and I found my one flaw in the shave, a small nick. Alum closed it up and all's well. Clearly I was a bit heavy handed with this heavy razor on that sharp blade, but I'll adjust tomorrow and it should be fine. I will say, it was smooth.

We are in a typical St. Louis weather pattern. One day it's 36, the next 56 with high winds. Tomorrow goes back down to the 30s. It's bounce time! With the changes in weather I kept the Toggle indoors today. Don't want to send it home with a cold, you know. Have a great day!

  8. Gorgeous setup - especially that Aristocrat! It might be a bit mild for you but it sure is classy! And decadent!

  9. DECember Lather Focus

Jeeves of Hudson Street; Bay Rum
    Burma-Shave boar brush
    Osaka Suribachi bowl, cool water
'55 Gillette Red Tip & Rapira blade
    M & L Florida Water AS/Cologne

Simple pleasures. Good lather in a comfortable bowl with a soft boar brush. Easy three passes, a little clean up just because it's become habit. Skipped the alum, and a fat splash of high alcohol AS. Ahhh.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
  10. Jeeves Bay Rum and FW? I think so.

    +1 on FW
  11. I have seen the VDH Shave Butter in the store but hadn't tried it. Prior to throwing the carts away I used some of the shave butter from Dollar Shave Club. Apparently it's the same stuff or close. No lather, just a coating of gunk, really. It is slick, though, but yeah, no fun at all.

  14. I actually reached for the Florida Water but at the last second decided to make it an all-Jeeves day instead. I think I will use the Key Lime again tomorrow and this time will match it with the Florida Water.
