1. I picked this up, for $16.06. It's a beefy half hollow grind. It just needs a little TLC.

  2. I’ve got this LeGrelot coming to me from his homeland. Looks like a little cleaning and polish is all that’s required.

  3. Was out shopping for the wife and these 2 followed me home.

A Johnathan Crookes & Sons and an Imperial Razor Co. The Imperial had a busted pair of scales and some rust so Im working on cleaning it up. Looks like I'm finally going to learn about honing and replacing scales! Both are just over 6/8 and the spines looked pretty good so while the Imperial needs work I felt good about getting them. Now I need a true bevel setter.[IMG][IMG]

  6. I finally received the Le Grelot from France. I decided to minimize the cleaning/ restoration work and to only do some cleaning and polishing. I surely didn’t want to lose any metal or gold wash. It cleaned up very nicely IMHO. It went to the hones, everything progressed smoothly. I’m going to gain a couple days of growth before the ultimate test.

  9. I read somewhere that you could cover the gold was with clear nail polish, then touch up the metal around it easier. My worry would be whether the acetone, or other polish remover would take the gold off, with the polish. Maybe @gssixgun or @HolyRollah has done this before.

  10. I used clear tape scotch and cut around the outline with an exacto knife. The small amount of staining remaining on the blade can stay. There isn't any rust or pitting, so I really didn't want to remove any metal. It actually looks better in person than in the photos. As long as it shaves good, I'll be happy:)

  11. Last week I picked up this 2-day boxed set of "The Gong - Extra Hollow Ground" Solingen razors. Not the most elegant name, but the box and razors are in very good condition. I need to clean them up and get them on the stones. There is a bit of rust on one edge but it is superficial.

I also picked up a John Milner & Co. Sheffield. This is a near wedge...and heavy. Also in good condition...also needs a good cleaning and honing.
