Just read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to my girls and put them to bed. About to dig into the cookies they left for Santa, and finish up my wrapping. Then make a few things for tomorrow’s breakfast, a quick shower and shave, and ready for tomorrow.

The gift of Christmas is just that; a gift. It’s not an exchange of gifts, or something you can reciprocate. It’s a gift so extraordinary that you either accept it with awe, or you pass on it considering it “too good to be true”. Regardless, the gift is for you. Merry Christmas all!

Thanks, Clint. I bought it from a guy at SRP who fixed it up, and did a really good job. This particular razor has a lot of wear on the spine, but it is all polished off, and to me is just a beautiful, well used blade.

    Merry Christmas, Buddy.

Razor: Undated '40s superspeed from TSD Holiday Raffle. Thanks @John Beeman .
Blade: Sharp Star (1) Thanks @NCoxSTL for the heads up on these so many months ago.
Brush: 30 DC LE. With Cashmere knot. Thanks @jtspartan .
Soap: B&M Dickens, for that Christmas spirit.
A/S: Myrsol F/Extra. One of my favorites for cool weather.

A late night Christmas Eve Shave. This is the first year that I don't have to do the Santa thing. My son has been out of that for a while, but my daughter milked it for a couple of years until she realized that she would get the same amount of loot either way. I guess there has to be a first year, and while I'm glad to be done with the late night building of bicycles and Barbie Dream Houses, it's a little sad as well. The shave was a solid DFS+. While I definitely prefer a heavier razor, I would rate the '40s SS a little more efficient than the flare tip, and a good bit less aggressive than the red tip, but a nice little razor nonetheless. The Sharp star is described by Neal as the best NOS blade out there, and I couldn't disagree with that. Dickens soap is supposed to smell very Christmas like, but I get more cherry than anything, and I don't associate cherries with Christmas. It's still a nice scent and has that B&M performance that I love, it's just not Christmas to me. A splash of F/Extra for that old man smell and I'm settling down for a long winters nap. Merry Christmas everyone, and for those who have young children who still have that wonder and anticipation in their eyes, enjoy it while it lasts.

Nice looking '40s Super Speed. Is the center bar notched on the ends? That will help settle a date. No notches means pre-1948. Notches indicates 1948 or after. Nice to see someone else break out the Sharp Stars too!

As usual there is no way I can multi quote enough to catch up. Happy Birthday to @clint64. I hope it was good. Waffle house rocks. I have breakfast there at least once a week. The fiesta omlet and hashbrowns. Thanks for posting the family pics.

Tonights before work shave was awesome. I have this 1915 Kampfe/Star. I have never seen another. I used some vintage polmolive cream and a badger to face lather (I posted a video too) Finished off with clubman. In the morning after work I will make the shirt 3 hour drive to my brothers.

Yeah, it's a notched bar. I figured if for a '48, '49, or a '50. Either way it's amazing to me that a product that's nearly 70 years old still performs as well as it did the day it was made. There's not much being produced today that will be around in 2088.

    Decadent December!!!

    December 24

Razor - Delta Echo New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
Brush - Stirling Synthetic, Pro Style
    Post - Alum, Nivea Original

A quieter day here I see. You'd think it was a holiday or something!

A nice Christmas Eve shave tonight with the setup from last night. Changed to the Jeeves with Stirling brush to make mountains of lather and settled for two passes and a light touchup. No reason to push it tonight. Ended with a nice DFS, though the alum was just a touch warm. Sometimes the Ladas, or any Super Stainless blade, can rub me just a tad the wrong way. Still extremely smooth and no complaints. I added the Nivea to the final step just to cool things off and enjoy the feel.

Here's wishing everyone a very blessed evening and day tomorrow. I fully expect things to be slow for a bit until we get past the holiday. Enjoy your family time. One note - we are oh so close....and I mean very, very, very close to breaking the all time record for number of posts in a month here. We'll pass it before you know it! Have a great evening!

One of the things people point to when buying new model razors is they want well built good quality stuff. My oldest razor is a 1902 model Kampf. Ummmm that is 115 year old stuff that shaves better then most of the new stuff. Do not get much better quality built then that!

It is just before midnight here, and like a few of you, I am playing ‘Santa’ now that everyone is in bed. My son who is 11 has known about Santa for a few years now, and apparently hasn’t spilled the beans to his 9 year old sister yet. I’m filling stockings for visiting adults tonight as well.
I finally got a few minutes to read through the thread a bit. What a great collection of photos, write-ups and holiday wishes. I would like to add my voice to that chorus- From my family to yours, I wish each of you a wonderful Christmas. I trust you will all have a safe and relaxing break with friends and/or family. Good night, friends.
