I cooked a small ham with ginger ale, apple juice, ginger preserves overnight ,pan of dressing .That is breakfast and lunch . This afternoon I'll be cooking a duck. for supper .Wish me luck there.I have never cooked a duck before.
Our Xmas meal is a rerun of Thanksgiving dinner. We do a turkey with all the trimmings and a pumpkin pie (just came out of the oven). One of those traditions no-one dares to break. On New Years day we do a standing rib roast.
We actually had dinner Christmas Eve at my GF's daughter's place. There was so much leftovers, I had a bunch of ham, dressing and gravy. Also put pepper cheese on top of leftover baked macaroni and cheese to spice it up a bit. Heated everything up on a cast iron griddle. And we still have more ham left, might have to freeze it for another time. Oh yeah, also have some Boston Cream pie for coffee breaks.
Being from an Italian household - Xmas Eve has to be seafood. Did a pasta dish (linguini) with large sea scallops and a garlic, lemon, cream sauce. Also a side of mussels and clams steamed in garlic, butter, and sherry - with bread for dipping in the sauce. Washed down with alot of wine.
We roasted a duck breast in Marsala & herbs. We served it over egg noodles. For dessert, we had creme brûlée, made by my husband, with fresh whipped cream, made by me.
Last night I smoked a coffee glazed ham on the kamado with Mac N Cheese and steamed broccoli. Today was just my mother and myself so I did a nice rib steak and roasted red potatoes.
Ham, Brussels sprouts pan roasted with bacon, corn, and PA Dutch potato filling. It's like mashed potatoes mixed with bread stuffing.
I do not observe the calendared holidays. For me, the only place to get food that I did not need to prepare myself is China Garden: Won-Ton soup Fried Dumplings General Tso's Chicken Mongolian Beef Sticky White Rice
The usual holiday fare for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potatoes etc.. Of course, being from the South, New Years Day will have to consist of the traditional collard greens and black-eyed peas. This insures good luck and prosperity for the year.
Had some friends over and tossed some aged strip steaks on the grill. Yup, 35 degrees outside, wind chill took it down about 10 degrees to mid 20s Those steaks melted in your mouth
Me and the wife just finished supper. The duck turned out very well and the side dish was sauerkraut baked with some of the duck fat ladled into it with cracked black pepper.SWMBO stated "I don't remember duck tasting this good. You will have to cook this again"
I put a 10lb Prime Rib Roast on the Kamado Joe with some Jack Daniels Barrel chunks for some smoke. Had some roasted potatoes, mac n cheese, deviled eggs and roasted broccoli. Cooked for 9 of us all together. Turned out great! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
