Awesome razor and brush Mark!! Are they new? I don't recall seeing either of them before - granted, my memory isn't the greatest...
Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope you're all enjoying the day with family and/or friends! In a few minutes, I head over to pick my Mom up, and my in-laws will be here around 5:00. Having homemade gnocchi for dinner...keeping it easy so we can relax and enjoy the evening!
Well guys, it started as a good day but around 10am our little boy began throwing up. Don't know if it's the stomach bug or what. He's 3 so there's no telling what he may have. Sucks for me and wife, though! We'll have to skip our big family gathering tonight. Oh well, that's life I guess. Enjoy good meals and fun for me, everyone! I'll repay the favor down the line.
Prayers for a speedy recovery for the little tyke. It must be doubly miserable to be sick on Christmas.
Sorry to hear it, Perry. Seems like when my kids were that age, throwing up was a mandatory thing every time they got sick. Usually they bounced back pretty quickly though. Hopefully it’ll pass soon. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Christmas SOTD: PAA Atomic Rocket Brush MdC Gillette Toggle Stirling Unscented PSB PAA Santalum Fumus AS This was my first shave since Thursday, so I was ready. I was going to work through the Toggle one setting at a time, but I didn't think 2 was appropriate after a few days off, so I went to 4. This razor is definitely more aggressive than the Fatboy, as it felt a lot like the FB at 6. It was a very smooth shave, and honestly I like the extra substance provided by the Toggle. I spent a little time working the MdC, and was rewarded with a slick lather and tons of it. I finished with some Santalum Fumus, which is a great smokey, Sandalwood scent. It made for a great shave after a few days off. I hope everyone has had a great Christmas.
So today I had an epic shave. Used a well known brush, blade, soap, and aftershave so I could focus on my Goodwill find. 1960 F4 Toggle. @LOOT, I think there are two varieties with this date code, does one have a buck toothed tray under the blade? That piece was different than my Slims. So I have heard that using an unknown razor, one should approach cautiously, and with an adjustable, a middle setting is considered safe. I therefore went straight to setting Neal, and let her rip. What's the worst that could happen? First pass, on the cap, listened for the sweet sound of blade contact, and got a DFS on a single pass. On nine, this thing felt a bit like my DEvette razor (open comb with the comb removed and an exposed blade,) except was heavier and that seemed to make it smoother. I could have quit after the first pass, but I already had the lather made up. Pass two, ATG located the stubble that normally needs some pressure with a DE. Kept the pressure light and got ready for pass three, XTG. Smooth all over, let's see how I did. Alum was quiet, and the aftershave didn't sting. Awesome shave. Going to have to give this razor a few more tries.
Yes, there were 2 F4 Toggles. The saw tooth tray is typical of the F4 Standard (gold) Toggle. It's also the same in the D1 Standard Toggle and the D1 Red Dot Fatboy. The F4 Standard is more common than the D1...but still somewhat rare and sought after. The F4 Chrome Toggle (nickel plated) has a very different tray and adjustment collar. It does not have a Red Dot on the collar. It has an external spring almost like a Fatboy but it is a physical stop. Next shave, try choking up in it. Grab it close to the collar and it should smooth out even more. I think you will enjoy your Toggle. They are pretty sweet. Merry Christmas. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
