Turned the birth year and quarter Black Beauty down to 4 from 5 after a couple razor burn irritation spots on the base of my skull (deemed the “hot dog pack” by me years back) on a fresh Feather. Didn’t chase as close of a shave this time after Christmas Eve irritation. 2 pass close and comfortable. I did have a little trouble dialing in my PdP 63 with the Zenith badger. I think that soap really stands out with boar or a stiff synthetic...

    Proraso Pre Shave
    Williams
    Frank Shaving Badger
    Schick J Golden 500
    Personna
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Lucky Tiger

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Frank Shaving Badger brush. I did two passes with the Schick J Golden 500 with a Personna blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I do find the handle of the 500 to be too long. I found myself holding the razor by the top half. I am thinking of maybe taking off two inches.

A relaxing and deeply satisfying shave this evening. Completed in 3 passes, though I was really done in 2, I was enjoying the shave to much to stop. Comfortable, efficient & smooth. That's what the Variant is in spades. Have a great evening and shaves Gents... ;)
  14. Hi Doug....I just watched a video of a guy smelling it and he advised that it is best used in late spring-early fall. Oh well, I'll have it handy at those times. I might try it once or twice when I get it, then I'll do a review and see if I agree with Mr. Video-man. As it features lime, red cedar, juniper, and , of course, gin...he may have a point. Like I said, I preferred another one that I think WOULD be best used in wintertime, but when I saw it was sold out, I kinda said "Well, what do I do NOW". Ah well, if I do end up putting it aside for warmer months, at least I can say I'll have various Clubmen all year-round.

  16. Decadent December!!!

    December 26

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (Neal)
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Pre-shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

I spent a lot of time with the Toggle and Fatboy, so decided my Slim needed some loving. I think he felt left out and he is, after all, a Gillette Adjustable. With only six shaves left in 2017 (wow!) I want to go out in absolute decadence, so I grabbed the Mitchell's Wool Fat, the Wolf, and a Gillette Silver Blue, the premier blade from St. Petersburg. I also added in the pre-shave soap from Stirling just to add the whiff of menthol and that extra slick feeling.

Two passes was all it took to make me happy. If it wasn't the baby it was close enough. I did a bit of touch up just to play with the lather a bit more. Couldn't have been a finer lather. No issues, nothing but a great, smooth, luxurious and totally decadent shave. I think I'll repeat this one tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow it's back to the grind. I'll be working straight through New Year's Day but this is usually one of our busiest weeks. Let's hope so. I've got my eye on some new gear! Hope you had a great Boxing Day!!

  19. Shave of head
Tabula rasa incense soap, semogue 2000 bristle brush, 8/8 filarmonica doble temple razor, after shave Floid vigoroso.
One of my Christmas presents this philharmonic product of a barter with a partner, gave me a soft shave and cantarin, the soap with good performance, creamy, with good post-shave sensation, the brush behaved to the height, soft, I checked that If you had to see the itch in a shave previous O melhor cream and not the brush. The Floid as always I fall of pearls and leaves the head warm. Then I went to the barbershop to get a beard arrangement to receive well groomed 2018. Good evening friends.[IMG]
