A kilo of gold is the size of a smartphone. They ship for $7 in the flat rate box. A kilo of gold is about $42k, or a lot of cookies.
That's why I threw this out there. We need comments from all the styles, and how they perform over lifespan. Good info.
I've joked about Teflon Poisoning for years. Turns out if you over heat a pan it happens. Don't eat all the cookies, I've got Nog!
I hadn't considered the carbon blades until you mentioned it. Very good point as even the DE carbon blades I've used, in most cases, shaved very well without any coating help. Tigers and Flying Eagles not included, of course.
True story.... I roomed with a guy that had a macall...beautiful nasty loud bird. I over heated a non stick pan and he came unglued. I did not know it was poison to birds. If I had known I would have cooked more often.
Remember, if you're interested in bribing and paying low shipping rates... I still accept gold bricks.
That has always been my thing with people that say the coating is what makes a blade usable. I still say coating is mostly marketing....like the escape trunk on a submarine.
My best cornbread is made in my grandmother's Griswold skillet. When dad and his two sisters cleared out the house, they left it. It's mine now, and my kids can fight over it one day.
