28 December 2017 A "classic" shave and finish! Marzipan + Clubman somehow works up an appetite in me. Think I'll scramble a few eggs, toast me some raisin bread, section out a 1/2 grapefruit, brew some joe and hit the road. Soap: RazoRock Classic Brush: Omega 10086 boar Razor: RazoRock German 37 slant Blade: Personna Med Prep (5) Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman
A good shave in the sense that it was very smooth but the Arko Moist cream is just a good lather - nothing else. The skincare hardly exists and although it lists menthol in the ingredients you can hardly feel it. The scent is not too nice either. The Intesa aftershave gel is excellent, however. It's very soothing and gentle on the skin. Have a good one!
Tobacco Thursday Another superb shave with Uncle Jon's. I added more water this time, and the lather was even thicker. Top Notch all around.
Prep: Hot towel Pre shave: Prep Razor: ‘The Rock’ (Rockwell 6S – #3) Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum Brush: 'Mama Chub' (Chubby 2 Two Band) Soap: Barrister & Mann: Promises Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / Wholly Kaw: Fougere Bouquet ASB I'm so glad that I persevered with the Glissant base, especially after my first couple of shaves, which were quite disappointing, because Eventide and Promises are outstanding soaps... excellent performance, and scents that are right up my street. Couldn't wish for anything more. Well, maybe the return of Fireside, I guess....
Fine Absolut Santal Parker Best Badger Hart Steel 5/8 round point Cold water/alum/cold water Fine Absolut Santal 0 degrees this morning and I should have plugged my truck in last night! Lesson learned. That didn't diminish the quality of my shave this morning... Happy Thursday to all!
Thank you Mark. The Yardley is a very good soap; cushiony, slick and, believe it or not, (due to age) has a pleasant, albeit subtile scent. The Paladin brushes are, without a doubt, excellent performers too. The Cleo's handle is not as ergonomic as the beehive or the PK-47. Another "negative" (I use that term loosely) is the ebony color is prone to soap film, especially around the base of the knot. My Sumo also accumulates soap film in the creases. I have also decided that I prefer the fan-type knot over the bulb. I really like your beehive boar, but can't justify the $85 price tag.

Two shaves for Friday morning - mine and Dad's! Mine: Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Super Speed/Astra day 5 Stirling Barbershop SS Lubriderm Moisturizer Pinaud Bay Rum AS Splash Dad's: Two hot towels Omega 49 Ming Shi TTO/Astra day 6 Start SC Sir Canada Cedar AS Splash For myself I find it so hard to go more than one day without using Rod's stuff. His mentholated pre-shave soap does such a great job of softening my tough stubble and makes it so much easier for me to get a great shave. His Barbershop soap has that fantastic old-school scent which I love so much, it lathers like a champ, and its post-shave care is unbeatable. The wife hates the scent of the Pinaud Bay Rum but hey - c'est la vie! Dad loves the Ming Shi razor I use on him because it's very gentle and forgiving, but it still gives him excellent shaves. The Start cream is from Russia and it smells mild, clean, and classy. It lathers like crazy and I know from having used it myself that it gives a wonderful, soothing effect from the chamomile in it. The Canadian Cedar aftershave smells really nice and it doesn't sting so much. I asked Dad what he thinks of the Omega 49 brush I bought him and he loves it. He also says that the Astras are terrific blades and I agree with him!

Wonderful setup Mark. Didn't realize Thater did boar brushes. Is this brush a dense boar like Omega 48/49 or a Zenith?

Any tips on getting a decent performance from C&E soap, I have the Indian Sandalwood and although the scent is divine, the lather is disappointing to say the least.
