Yeah, but my beard pattern is a little erratic in spots and I’m too lazy to follow it exactly. I’m trying to balance perfect vs simple. I’ll probably mix in a few approaches, that one included.
Mine is somewhat erratic as well. WTG is N/S on my left cheek and W/E (nose/ear) on my right side. My 2nd pass is therefore XTG E/W on left side and N/S on right side. It made a big difference last spring when I differentiated between the two sides.
I have what is almost like a beard cowlick near my Adams apple. I've found just going XTG to be the best solution for me in that Area Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk
Happy New Year and Happy Anniversary. I'm going to be focusing on single edge razors, which for my purposes includes shavettes. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
Guilty. I just couldn’t help myself. It was supposed to arrive last week but is delayed in the USPS black hole. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
January 1, 2018 Razor: Pre-War Fat Handle Tech Blade: Dorco ST-301 Platinum (1) Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger Soap: Williams Post: Alum, Listerine, WH First shave for the new year. I'm still trying to decide a a focus for this month. I am, however, waiting on some Dorco Prime Platinum blades that I ordered from an after-Christmas sale, so today's blade choice (the regular Dorco Platinum blade) is a precursor to a mini-focus on those. The Pre-War Tech was chosen because it hasn't seen much use lately. As for the shave... to be honest, I'm not sure the regular Dorco is the best match for the pre-War Tech. It definitely required being careful about angle. A decent DFS, though, with no issues; just not as close as it could have been in a couple of spots. We'll see how it does tomorrow.
You may be right, and I may enjoy it as a change up from my beloved DEs, Chris. On the other hand, if I dislike it or injure myself, I am already working on a list of people to blame: 1. You 2. Avril Lavigne 3. Those who have kidnaped Neil Young to Northern California (I mean, who’d want to like there on their own instead of his mosquito infested homeland of Winnipeg?) 3. Anyone associated with the NY Rangers (I’m still mad about ‘94...)
Thank you Jason. Asha and I are watching the early games at the taqueria with some great food and cold beers. Hard to do better than spending a wonderful afternoon with my daughter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jason, you're probably right! Unfortunately I've been off for a couple of weeks now and all of this is hitting me here at the end. I go back for a teacher workday tomorrow and the students return Wednesday. We'll see what happens. I'm taking it easy today.
Paul, did you get all your purchasing done in time for NB18? Any shipments still on the way? Might have been Chris @Bama Samurai that mentioned this. I started doing N/S - Generally WTG, then S/N ATG, followed by XTG - ear to nose quite a while back. Less irritation & more reduction with fewer clean up passes. Good advice! New straight razor shavers are recommended to purchase round tips for this reason. A gentle bit of rub on any old kitchen knife sharpening stone will take the tips/corners down to less bitey. I rarely get blood on steel with the middle of a shavette's blade. It's dipping the corners or a sloppy set down that perforates the epidermis.
I'm ready to go, and have 2 shipments coming. TSD Bay Rum A.S., and one of Clubman's new ones-Gents Gin A.S.
