Good luck with the med check. I will enjoy following along as you test the different Jeeves soaps.
Great photo and lineup. Happy Friday Perry.

Love the Delta Echo. Congrats. It is nice when to look back and really notice all the improvement.

Thank you Andrew. I started the tub this week with a little less than a third or so. The big boar has really chewed through the tub during the shaves this week. I also got the new Thater Boar brush and have used Jeff's to palm lather it about 5 or 6 times to start the break in process. I anticipate the soap will be done around the middle to end of next month if I continue to use it twice a week.

Good stuff, Randy! It took me a couple of years to figure out the most efficient way for me to shave. I can't do daily shaves, mainly because there aren't enough whiskers to do multiple passes. If I am shaving daily on a business trip, I do a single pass going from my mouth to my ears on my cheeks and jawline. Then from my ears to my my apple on the sides of my neck, then down the center of my neck, and up under my chin. This is mostly XTG, but includes some ATG. If I try to do my normal three pass shave, I get a lot of irritation and ingrown hairs. For my normal shaves, I do a N/S (mostly WTG with some XTG and a little ATG,) then a S/N (Mostly ATG, with some XTG, and some WTG,) then I do my funny pass from above. I have tried different orders of shaving, going true WTG, XTG, ATG, and they all leave me with more irritation. What is interesting to me though, is that if I do a single ATG pass, I don't get as close of a shave, even after two days. If I do a N/S, Sideways, then S/N, I am always much closer to BBS. For me, I think I have to give my whiskers two days to get above the skin enough for my razor to comfortably cut them ATG. However, if I don't do the whisker reduction first, I pull more than I cut.

The other day I wrote that the Jeeves Bay Rum soap and my face are in concert with each other.....same can be said about Chiseled Face Ghost Town Barber. There are times I feel that my in-shower bodywash qualifies for a shaving "pass". Thus just the one-pass(while actually shaving) might suffice, but I do 2 anyway.

I'm going to match you on using soaps twice a week. Two soaps, each twice a week, then three can shaves. Repeat 52 times. I'm developing my pattern that presumably will help me succeed with NB18. Y'know, I think I was BORN set in my ways!!!!

I don't think too many of us do true whisker reducing passes. To me a reduction pass does not go over the same patch of skin in the same direction more then once. If you are doing buffing type strokes you are actually reducing the hair to the lowest possible point that it can be being cut in that direction. It makes sese to me that if the whiskers are a little longer on the ATG pass that they have a better chance at being stood up vertical before being cut thus resulting in a closer shave. I don't think that the WTG and XTG pass make the ATG pass more effective, but instead make the ATG pass more comfortable. I do notice that the ATG pass is a bit uncomfortable for me if I skip the XTG pass.

Adam, I just now received a B ay Rum Aftershave(the one from TSD Shop). Will compliment the Jeeves well enough, I do think, but I get a bit more of a clovey smell in the TSD brand.

Like Adam, Randy, I find a mixed first pass is most effective for me. My first pass on my face is diagonal so a combination of mostly XTG with a bit of WTG on my cheeks and upper lip, moving from each ear in towards my nose. My chin is more N/S WTG. However my first pass on my neck is always S/N ATG from the base of my neck up over my jawline. This first pass leaves me with a good basic DFS. If I want a closer shave, I then do one or possibly two more passes covering each area in the opposite directions, more as a buffing to catch missed patches than anything.

I find that starting with a normal N/S WTG pass everywhere is much less effective and ultimately causes more irritation.

BTW, Fuzzy @wchnu, did you see the recent announcement of the new PAA SE "Starling" razor? A 3-pc that uses Gem SE blades. Any plans to try one and compare to your old lathercatchers and the newer Gems?
