@Steve G. Sorry to be late for the party. Welcome. When you get tired of the 2 sided stuff check out the Single Edge and Injector razors. Some of us think they are much better. Mostly Canadians seem to think that I notice.
I don't hunt, but Mastigouche wildlife reserve is quite a nice place for hiking. Been there a couple of times. And yes, we do talk funny...
I thought so, too. Passed up a couple Schick Injectors when I first got started gathering razors. Then Chris @Bama Samurai passed me a Type J-1 to try. Turns out they are great razors, and they look good, too. Then Tony did a Pass Around with a razor he built in a cave, with a bunch of... No, wait... That was Tom @twhite, in his garage. I don't know if he used scraps. But he designed and built an Injector. It's very pretty and shaves great, too! Enjoy your DE's for now. Stick around long enough and we'll have you trying an injector or some other SE razor. May tempt you to the Dark Side. Straight razors are the ultimate single edge razor.
Welcome to The Shave Den Steve. I'll give you 6 months before you'll be an SE guy. Check out the Injector & SE Party !!! thread and it may be sooner than that.
We'll see about the Injectors and SE... Still have to master my Double Edge. Getting better at it every day...
Steve, I don't think I ever tried a SE but I can say this - I love my 1950's Super Speed. It's a fantastic, mild razor which gives me great shaves every time!
to TSD @Steve G I hope you enjoy it here, a great bunch of people with lots of info. Have you tried a blade sample pack? Just because a blade gets a lot of good feedback from other shavers doesn't mean it's a good blade for you. You may be surprised at how different blades can feel and work on your face. The more different blades you try in the beginning the better IMO. Keep at it patience and practice will get you the best shaves of your life forever.
