I tried it, and liked it. Must admit to a few warm water lathers recently. Having 4 or 5 days of at or near freezing temps chilled my Southern blood. Might need to get a little more antifreeze in my system.

I have shaved with cold water when I had to in the Army so I am inclined to avoid it unless required. I agree this week has been all the cold this southern boy cares to endure.

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club
    Blades - artist-club-small-professional-blades.jpg (2)
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Back to the theme with the Feather SS and Jeeves. Used the JR46 to get an incredible lather in an incredibly short time and ready to go to work. The Feather Pro blade really provides a sharp and close shave. Two passes and it's a very nice DFS and that's fine for the night. Alum was quiet so all good there.

Still waiting on the Jeeves samples. Should be in the house tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the scents. I did get my latest shipment from Stirling, mainly stuff for my wife but I picked up a puck of Iced Coffee soap. Very nice scent to it. It has the scent of a fine Starbuck's coffee, something like Gold Coast with cream. And it's a mentholized soap, hence the ice! I'll give it a try in the not too distant future.

Hope your Monday was as good to you as mine was to me!

I couldn't agree more. Those guys who were in their prime around WWII were an amazing generation. My Dad actually lied about his age and joined the Army in late 1944 to go take on Hitler. He was absolutely set on getting over there. The Army had other plans, though, and he ended up running a bowling alley in the PX up in Fairbanks. Maybe Anchorage. Fuzzy on that. I do remember how pissed off he always was that he missed the fighting in Europe. He did, however, learn how to keep beer ice cold without freezing just outside his quarters. A skill that everyone would be better off knowing, when you think about it.

This is a great post for those looking for some education! Aggression is not about gap alone, nor geometry alone, but a combination of the two. And, your comment about technique gives me goose bumps. Getting technique nailed makes all the difference in quality of shaves. Here's the most interesting takeaway that I see. A Toggle, which is an aggressive razor on my setting, actually provided a rougher and more aggressive shave than a straight razor. Safety razors are, theoretically, safer than a straight due to the ability to set any angle with the straight. Yet, due to the ability to choose the right angle and, due to your technique with the straight, you got the better shave out of that. I love it when practice proves theory!

Just not feeling the Shavette Fever. That Red Tip that was flashed earlier caught my eye. Since I picked up this AS I've been trying to figure out a soap that comes close in scent. Imagine slightly sweet, touch of burnt rubber, and a whiff of skunk scent. Yeah that good! So I grabbed up this classy English puck our resident High Tech Redneck smuggled into the states. Being a wood butcher by trade I might not have chosen sandalwood, but it's more than that. Described as a "Soft base notes of sandalwood, tonka and cedarwood, while delicate middle accords of lavender, thyme and jasmin blend easily with fruity twists of pineapple and melon. Top notes of lemon and bergamot give a perfect finishing touch." Umm, yup. Just right to compliment this new AS. Easy load of the soap from my favorite style - a hard milled puck. This old boar brush isn't tall lofted, but it's dense making great lather in any soap it attacks. My first pass was WTG with the Rapira blade from days gone by. Got a little tuggy, so I swapped in a fresh ASP for the balance of the shave. ATG, XTG, and I went back for another WTG since I'd made plenty of Lux lather. No errors so I skipped the alum and splashed on the road kill lotion. It feels good with a fair dose of alcohol. Three kinds! SD Alcohol 40, Isopropyl, and the one I smell - Benzyl Alcohol. It has a "Sweet, floral, fruity with chemical nuances" scent. Feels good, smells ... OK. No SWMBO around to tell me I can't get my Pepé Le Pew on.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thanks everyone who took time out of their busy schedule to pray for my father-in-law. Turns out he has pneumonia and because of his weakness due to congestive heart failure they want to admit him to the ICU, however the current flu epidemic has patients stacked up in the hallways waiting for beds. It's going to be a long haul yet.

What an exciting game last night. However, back to reality this morning as the work week continues. Lucky for me this lineup just works without a lot of thought. Three passes and touch ups along my jawline and lower right neck left me with a near perfect shave. A splash of Floid Blue and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

I broke out the Pain Stick today, and I definitely feel more comfortable with this razor than the half blade Classic Samurai. Two passes and DFS. My puck of MWF is falling apart, there is just one decent sized chunk left. A little TOBS Sandalwood to put the finish on this nice shave, and my Tuesday is off to a great start. I hope everyone has a great day!
