The way it is for Wednesday's shave:

    prep-Dove Care + Men Bodywash(in shower)
    shave-Stirling Barbershop soap
    brush-Stirling Synthetic*
razor-Pivot Nation from Gillette Sensor Deuce
    A.S.-Clubman Original Scent

    *
that large one Rod had on sale at the time I bought it. It gave me problems upon first use-I'll give it another chance tomorrow.

    Proraso Pre Shave
    Williams
    B-400 by Tom
    Heljestrand
    Henckels Wedge
    CWR
    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vanilla

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the B-400 badger brush. I did two passes with the Heljestrand Razor with a Henckels wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vanilla AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I have forgotten to mention that these blades are also noisy. It sounds like buttering toast.
After cleaning, I did ten cycles on each of the sharpening sides and twenty-five on the strop side of the Allegro. It doesn't take long to maintain the blade.

First shave with it today. A 3 pass shave that was close but, left a little bit of irritation. Maybe error on my part and the way the blade is held is a little disconcerting. It’s not fully supported along its width once the top cap is clamped on to the bottom plate and handle. Again, an acceptable shave, but no where near smooth and comfy as my other GEM razors. B plate will be next and we’ll see. Have a great evening and shaves Gents... :happy088:

January 9 - Stirling Iced Coffee Review

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club
    Blades - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Stirling Iced Coffee
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Staying with the pain stick but switching to Stirling Iced Coffee for the soap. This one is on sale for the 4.5 ounce puck so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The lather quality is all Stirling. The scent is really intriguing. Defintely like a dark roast coffee, you can easily pick up the hazelnut accent and the menthol brings you a nice and refreshing cool down at the end. There's almost a Mocha hint as well, but I think that's just the hazelnut working with it. I rarely gush about a soap, but I'll highly recommend this one. This one is a "must have" for my den. I noticed they only show the 4.5oz puck right now and only 30 left. I'm hoping that just setting things up for a new run.

As for the shave, no problems at all. The JR54 had no problems at all, which was expected, and it was smooth sailing all the way. I actually did three passes with the pain stick just because I wanted to play with that lather longer and the alum stayed fairly quiet. That extra pass did add a bit of heat to it. Still, no disappointments here!

RAZOR: Family Dollar TwinBlade Pivot Razor (disposable) - BARGAIN - 10 for $1
BLADE: twin (*compare to Gillette Good News Plus)
PREP: hot water shower with Nourish Cool Cucumber Green Tea Moisturizing Soap, followed by hot water rinse
    PRE SHAVE: none
CREAM: Gillette Venus (with OLAY) Violet Swirl shave gel
    BRUSH: none- apply by hand
POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse, followed
    AFTER SHAVE: None
BALM: Suave Essentials Cucumber Agave SMASH Lotion
    FamilyDollar_Twin_Venus_Olay_Violet.jpg
Achieved a quick 1-pass DFS. Bada Boom! Very nice.
I have used the Nourish Cool Cucumber Green Tea Moisturizing Soap as a shave soap.
It easily lathers with a brush, and provides very good results. Good cushion, slickness and moisture without any oily feel.
    YMMV

Superb shave today. The lather was very thick and easy to load and build on my face. The tuxedo knot is my favorite - I love the feel and efficiency. The splash left my face smooth, soft and smelling great.
