If we put a poll up, I wonder how many of us would say we first got interested in wet shaving because of the cost of the carts.

That would be interesting although I bet a better shave would come in close too. Neck irritation is what brought me here.

Since I’ve been on a French soap kick I figured I would give an artisan French style soap a go and used Caties Bubbles Irish coffee this morning. Great shave love the post shave feel. Sticking with the Clone/Voskhod combo one more day and decided to keep the whiskey flowing with Vanilla Bourbon AS. [IMG]

Nice photo John, the pre-war tech has to be one of the best!
    Beautiful razor, Brian!
Quit enabling me, Neal! I'm trying to reduce my inventory not add to it!
    Great photo, Keith!
Nice photo, Perry! I will be adding some stock of CS GEM and PAL blades soon, and could use a product tester. About that time I will be getting in some more Proline's and will have a magazine of P-30's for you too.
Beautiful photo, Clint. That brush is the tops!
Fantastic photo, Jim! Way to set the hook!
    Awesome photo, Jason!
    Very nice, Mark!
John, How doe the FB Tech compare to the pre-war? It is the only other Tech that I am interested in adding to the collection.
    Very Nice!

You are the man! Just let me know. I've really enjoyed the PTFE blades and the carbon blade from this morning. The Proline injector blades are excellent as well.

I at least used the savings as a justification but new all along it would cost more.

Thank you Andrew. The knot is fantastic. I feel it will be the best boar I have used. However, the thing is expensive for a boar brush. The only way to justify the price is to compare it to a custom turned handle with an Omega knot which would be about the same.

I was truly convinced it would be cheaper. Then I noticed how long soaps took to use up. Other people sent me stuff and I won some PIFs and all of sudden I had the itch. Not complaining! I really enjoy shaving this way and have no regrets.

is that a Satinedge or a Satinwedge? Either way, looks like a solid Duck, and should clean up nicely. Both are good shavers. Red tip is always a nice find too.

    Nivea sensitive PSB

Second shave on the E2 and Proline was really rough. This may be too much blade for this razor or I may have let the angle waiver too much. The Jeeves turned into an amazingly slick super goop with the help of my Jayaruh #134. Lots of hot spots after the shave so I went with some Nivea Sensitive to cool them down. Have a great day my friends!

Too bad about the hot spots today. Proline with the E razors might be a bit much. I'm scared to try one in my E2.

Sorry about that. I promise - no more enabling. Just for your information, 29 pucks left, only $6. Worth it at twice the price. But that's just free information for you to use. :innocent

Cost of carts was definitely part of it for me, as was quality of shave. I was already using a brush and soap/creams my last few years with carts, anyway. However, I always had one (cheap) brush and one soap/cream on the go at a time, with no aftershave. In that aspect, the software was much cheaper when I used carts. It was only when I started getting into DE shaving that I starting accumulating soaps and aftershaves. So while Carts are priced outrageously, I can't say that I started shaving traditionally wholly to save money, because as soon as I started I spent like mad.
