January 11/2018 Thursday Razor: Gillette Guard Blade: Single Blade Cartridge (10) Pre shave Oil: Homemade Brush: VDH Badger Lather: Proraso Green AS: Aqua Velva/Afta That little ('Toy") single blade razor is very surprising, even after 10 shaves, I`m getting almost the same shave as my favorite combination. Even to compare it to the Personna Floating Head/Gillette Twinjector(with Proraso) combination is compliment worth a mint to Gillette. I have never seen anything look so flimsy, yet work so well. A 2 pass shave, WTG/ATG. Some clean up, but nothing out of the norm. Hope all members received as good a shave as I did and God Bless. Bill
Pre: Warm water face wash Brush: Maseto 24mm ST Soap: Vitos Red Razor: Unbranded Italian OC 40s/50s? Blade: Astra SP Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Tuff Red AS First time with this little razor and I wasn't impressed. It's very inefficient and when I hit the tougher 'tache and chin hairs it felt like they were being pulled out rather than sliced. I loosened the handle a 1/4 of a turn for the second pass and it was a bit better. It still took a third pass to get a decent DFS. Ah well, on to the next one.
I could see purchasing other scents of Klar. The performance is great, and if I like a scent I want it strong. If Cella is an almond cookie, Klar Mandel is an almond cake smashed into your face.
Here we go for the Friday shave plan: prep-Dove Care + Men Bodywash(in shower) shave-Fields&Streams by Local Gent Shaving Co.* brush-Spindle Duro Tali by Crown King razor-Pivot Nation by Gillette Sensor Deuce A.S.-Sandpiper w/Menthol by Stirling *Never thought I'd be using this in the winter, but it's going to be in the mid 50's tomorrow. In fact, this whole menu(except for a different brush) might be a repeat performance Sat., as the mild weather will continue(or is expected to).

SOTD 1/11/2018 RAZOR: BOSS 3 Piece Extra Heavyweight - All Metal Textured Safety Razor Long Handle (4 inch handle, 4.8 ounces) BLADE: Dorco Platinum ST-300 - 10th use of this blade - BUT I hand stropped it. PREP: hot water face wash with Ivory soap PRE SHAVE: used bloom water on face BRUSH: VDH Boar - from the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave Set - 11th use from new MUG: repurposed coffee/soup Mug SOAP: Hybrid Soap Col.Conk LIME & Williams Mug Shave soap POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse AFTER SHAVE: Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum BALM: None I really like this Boss razor. It is definitely in the TOP 3 of my DE razors. The last shave with it was a good DFS, but lacked the smoothness I have come to expect. I could replace the blade... BUT in the interest of exploring the boundaries of this shaving hobby, I decided that I would HAND STROP the blade instead. I got a great BBS shave with 2+passes. Didn't really need the 3rd pass on the neck & under the chin - but hey THIS WAS A SMOOTH SHAVER! Granted, my last shave with this razor was limited by the Erasmic shave soap & prep. The lather this shave was excellent. I do not pretend that this was a scientific experiment - but I can tell you the shave was wonderfully smooth and close. YMMV
