Yesterday's shave with the Williams went so well, I wanted to try to repeat it. I keep a puck in a black shave mug from Sally Beauty Supply and I soused it for a few minutes while I washed my face with the Nivea face wash. I essentially did what I did yesterday in that I emptied the souse water from the shave mug into an empty coffee mug. I use the souse water to dip the tips of the shave brush. (I did not pre-soak the brush since it's synthetic.) I used the same brush as yesterday. I loaded the brush, and at this point changed my tactic from yesterday. I had built my lather in a bowl yesterday, continuously loading the brush and transferring the lather to the bowl in order to build on that. However today, at the last minute, I opted to just go to my face right away and start painting. While I had wet my face prior to lathering it wasn't soaking wet. I'm finding that the lather goes on thicker if my face isn't too wet, and since it's thicker it doesn't dissipate right away. At one point the lather felt too dry so I just dipped the tip of the brush into the souse water and hit the lather again. I sectioned off my face again just lathering one section, shaving it, and then moving on to another section. I was able to complete a comfortable and close shave with a single pass on my cheeks and a pass + a clean-up on my neck. I didn't experience any dissipating lather as Williams is famous for, but keeping in mind I was just lathering one section of my face and shaving it.
Oh... and no blood today either!
Happy shaves everyone!
