I use mine just about everyday! Thanks to Chris over at razorplate.com it looks brand new again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So, yesterday I placed my D1 Red Dot Fatboy in a box to begin it's replating journey. The plan is to redo it in factory nickle....however, the idea of black rhodium (white numbers...or silver) is intriguing. I know, the shaving gods are displeased with the very thought. I've got gold, rhodium, and nickle Gillette adjustable replates already. A D3 Fatboy in white rhodium and 2 toggles in original gold and nickle. The D1 Red Dot Fatboy is somewhat rare. The purist in me says nickle. The oddball in me says black rhodium. Resale value, to me, is unimportant. Thoughts?
Beautiful, extraordinary, Gillette we love them. Enjoy LOOT. Congratulations Enviado desde mi iPad utilizando Tapatalk
It is your razor so you must do what your heart says.... but since you asked, I would go with the nickel... keep it as original as possible.
SOTD 1.12.2018 Face & Head Shave Pre-shave: hot shower and Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash Brush: Omega Boar 10049 Soap: VDH Luxury Razor: Gillette Fatboy E-4 (set at #9) Blade: Feather (4 or 5) Post-shave: Dickinson's Original WH, Afta Original AS Skin Conditioner, Brut AS
I'll go Devil's Advocate; A Red Dot is already a Rare Beast. Please yourself. One day someone else will treasure it. They can have the plating stripped and go back Original Style should they choose.
Thank you, @LOOT. I feel honored to be included in that since there are so many good photographers on here... including you. Your Fatboy and Toggles photos are outstanding!
