    Razor: 1918 Gillette Thin-Cap OT
    Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum (4)
    Brush: Semogue 620
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

A recent acquisition included a Thin-Cap OT with a 1918 serial number. I noticed that Neal had been using his for the past couple of days, so I decided to give may "new" one a try. This was my first time with a Thin-Cap; my other OT's are all Thick-Cap ones from the 1920s. Overall, it was an interesting experience. I can't say that this razor is more aggressive than a Thick-Cap, but it does seem a bit less forgiving. Still, I ended up with a BBS with no blood and pretty much quiet Alum.

I have a 1918 with the G serial number...guess I will have to break it out in a few days and join the fun!

    Razor: Blackland Sabre L2
    Blade: Personna GEM (1)
Brush: Jayaruh JR #45 Walnut Honey Comb
Soap: Jeeves Of Husdon Street Private Study
    A/S: Old Spice Fresh Lime
Bowl: The Distinctive Goat Sinker Log Shaving Bowl

Excellent shave with the L2. It is more aggressive and provides a close comfortable shave.

    Aggressiveness: Level One - 4/10. Level Two - 5.5/10
Blade gap: Level One - 0.6mm. Level Two - 0.9mm

Saturday January 13 - last day with this rig

    Gillette Tech / Voskhod ( 5)
    Simpsons CH2 Synthetic brush
    Jeeves Turkish Bath soap
    Alum and Jeeves Barbershop splash

I was going to skip this setup in favor of a Fatboy and MWF for Fatboy/Fat Friday, but ended up skipping shaving instead. So I had a two-day stubble to mow this morning. Two passes with the Voskhod in the Tech and I am cleanshaven again. Not quite BBS but close.

It's interesting how perceptions change over time. What I now classify as CCS and a rather sloppy shave is what I would have considered perfectly cleanshaven in my electric razor days. I couldn't have reached DFS without endless buffing and a horrible razorburn. BBS wasn't even in the ballpark. I still have my electric and will use it as my travel setup on short trips by air to avoid the TSA hassles, but otherwise it has languished untouched and unmissed for over a year now.

It’s a Delta Echo Cubano. I asked him who made it, but all he could remember is that it was an Italian Barber razor that he bought in bulk and creakoted. I really like it. FYI There are some ready to order on his site (a rarity).

Mine is a 'G', as well. Actually, the serial starts with "G3" which, on a newer razor, happens to be my birth quarter. :)

    January 13

An upper respiratory inspection has taken hold of me this past week, but I'm starting to feel better. I've been shaving every other day using my Weber loaded with a Voskhod along with the Soap Destroyer. I think I have five shaves on the blade. I've been using C.O. Bigelow cream and occasionally using Floid Vigoroso aftershave. The menthol just feels good when your head is all stopped up. The Soap Destroyer has broken in nicely after two solid months of use. I plan to get back in the game with the thread and SOTD photos shortly.

I ordered a WiFi adapter and updated the firmware in my DSLR today. It will be fun to play around with this set up again for my SOTD photos.

I want to share some extremely sad news. Please sit down before reading further. Our furnace drain line above our dining room leaked while we were away on our trip. The water soaked my stack of scrap booking backgrounds on the dining room table. Oh well, back to Walmart... (Seriously, not a big leak, and the line will be re-routed and repaired Monday.)

It's good to be back. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
