  1. Today I am sporting more cuts than I can remember in my adult life. Fortunately none of them are shave related. Here in Florida, January means it’s cool enough to go outside and clean your grill for the year. When I bought my built in stainless grill, they suggested I get a “service plan” for them to come out and clean it annually. At the time I thought “why should I pay someone to do that when I can do it myself?” Two days, $40 of cleaning supplies and multiple lacerations later and my grill is clean. I wonder if I still have the number for the service guy. He’ll be doing it next year.
  2. And coffee grounds are just dead plants. Happens all the time, doesn't hurt anything.
  3. Should get a basket.

  4. We have a standard ol' coffee maker at home with a reusable filter. We make one pot in the morning that is just right for the 3 of us who drink coffee. I have a press at work if I want a single cup. No paper waste.

  10. I'll let Uncle Fester know. I think he's out of incandescent bulbs. He just doesn't like the taste of CFLs and LEDs.

  12. 'bout time for another trip to Kentucky. We're a long way from NYC . . . and that is generally a good thing. :)

My SRX showed up in the mail this week. I'll take your advice and use a fresh blade every time I take it out for a spin. I'll give it a go in the next few days. :happy088:

  16. It’s a built in. With what they charge for the dang things I won’t be buying another one in this lifetime. If it ever wears out, I’m going Charlie’s route.

  17. SOTD January 14, 2018

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM G-Bar
    Brush: Artisan badger
Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Turkish Bath
Post: Witch hazel, Speick aftershave, Stirling Glacial Unscented balm
    WTG, touch up

Needed a quick shave today. My best friend and former college roommate is in town with his wife and two children. They're visiting through tomorrow. Their kids are 3 1/2 and 5 months and our little boy is 3. It's pretty wild in our house! No shave yesterday so I had 2+ days to mow down. Really enjoyed the G-Bar with PTFE blade. Smooth and very comfortable. The Jeeves soap is some serious stuff. Slick, protective, etc. Really enjoyable all around.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! We are out of school tomorrow for the MLK holiday and perhaps we'll get out Tuesday as well due to some snow concerns here in Alabama. Woo hoo!

  19. Someone spills a bucket of ice and they shut things down.
  20. Amen to that. After the "Snowpocalypse" of 2014 we have been quite jittery in these parts. That was a terrible forecast bust. My wife couldn't get home and ended up sheltering in a church overnight. I was able to leave work and make it to my parents' house (they lived about 5 miles away at the time) and stayed there for two nights. The roads here are so hilly that travel was impossible.
