3 is great setting very smooth and nice. Setting 1 is good too. I just got the 2c with only this plate and I’m diggin it

For me, 3 was a bit on the mild side, but it was still very effective. He should enjoy it very much

I still haven't tried the Gem Micromatic OC yet because this razor has landed in OZ today, waiting for clearance by Australian Customs before handing this over to Australian Post and then to my front door. Trouble is the Gem Micromatic OC won't arrived until Monday lunchtime, while I'm still currently using the Gem Micromatic Bullet Tip until the current blade is finished which is now shave #7 before I used the OC next while I'm waiting on the Clog-Pruf

@SpeedyPC, that is a nice one. I just got one which I'll probably try for the first time this weekend. Mine, unfortunately is missing a lot of plating from the cap.

Don't worry about the plate loss it doesn't affect the shave. It just means that someone really enjoyed using it.

With all this MicroMatic talk I may have to dig mine out of the box it's packed in for a weekend shave.

That's my usual mantra about plate loss. This one was a bit surprising, though; some of the plating was already missing and flaked off like glitter as I was cleaning it. The metal underneath is also dark and doesn't seem to take a shine. I'm guessing it is Zamac rather than brass.

You can always re-plate the razor like brand new again and it will last you for another 50 years of shaving
