No arty photo edits or handsome bokeh today unfortunately. As I was shaving this morning my wife brought my two year old son upstairs to hang some clothes out. I realised I had left my straight razor and blade box open on the bed in our room and panicked, and grabbed my stuff to head back through and tidy it up. Kinda forgot that my Aristocrat was right on top of a flannel and went to scrunch the flannel as I picked it up and, well... First decent DE related injury! In all seriousness, the razor needed a clean though. That photo doesnt do it justice - sliced my thumb pretty well I finished my shave, like a man. Crying a little, covered in blood DFS baby!! Menthol Monday's Shave Proraso Pre Shave C.O. Bigelow JR#206 2-band Badger Schick H "The Hussy" Schick Twin CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Vegetal I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the JR #206 2-band Badger brush. I did two passes with the Schick H Razor with a Schick Twin blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... This was my first shave with the Hussy. @wchnu sent it to me to test drive. @twhite sent me some Schick Twins to use saying that it takes it to a new level. I must say that the resulting shave was not to be equaled. The weird handle took some getting used to, and I am not sure I am used to it yet. I will be using it through Friday, so that should give me time to get accustomed to it. The other thing was that it clogs pretty easily. If I were a hot water guy, that probably would not have been much of an issue.
Thanks Tim. Like you I find this to be an oldie but excellent combination Sent from my SM-J327P using Tapatalk

SOTN 13th and 14th Jan 2018. I decided to try out a number of new (to me) products I purchased on the BST and the January Sales for the first time yesterday and also re-visited some of them this evening. First up was the Murdock Sandalwood Rose soap and Razorock Aluminium 400 brush. The brush feels great in the hand and the soap scent is gorgeous. It smells very similar to Scheermonnik Soek and Reef Point Dragons Blood, which is a good thing in my book. Unfortunately, the performance was abysmal. The first lather with the Razorock was light and airy and collapsed very quickly with very little cushion or slickness. I tried it again today with a brush I know can get the best out of any soap, my Shavemac Colonia No. 1 D01 3-band and the results were very similar. In a word, the soaps a dud. It's ingredient list suggests that it would be better as a general soap and this is where this soap shines. Thankfully, I didn't pay the list price of £30 otherwise I'd be gutted. It cost me £9 on the sale and for that I've ended up with a really nice general use soap and a very well made wooden bowl. I tried the Schick O Type clone out as well during both shaved (with a Schick B20 blade last night and a Personna blade tonight). This razor was more aggressive than I was expecting and I really enjoyed using it. I can see this having a regular place in me SE rotation. Finally the Vitos Pre/Post Shave and the Myrsol Emulsion. I prefer using pre-shave oils to creams but thought I'd try the Vitos in the pre-shave role last night. It was very reminiscent of Proraso Pre/Post Shave cream and whilst adequate in this role didn't leave my face feeling as well prepped as if I were using an oil. I used it post shave this evening and it felt much better in this role. The Mysrol Emulsion was a revelation. I can't quite work out why I've tried this Balm before. It's amazing stuff and I really enjoyed using it. The other products I used tonight were some Meissner Pre-Shave Oil and some Faena Beard Oil. I love these products. Both smell intoxicating and are extremely good 10/10 oils. I've used them before and it was great to find an excuse to use them again tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
