  1. Good enough.

This is why I shavette. Never want to lose the touch.

Honed by @gssixgun a year ago, it still feels like shaving with the back of a butter knife. So smooth. Two passes for some DFS, zero error or irritation and no Alum needed. If you're new to SR, get your stuff honed by an expert. It matters.

    Have a great Monday!

    Ming Shi 2000s
    Treet Platinum
    Stirling "Baker Street"
    Ever-Ready 200T

Outstanding shave today with the Ming Shi and Treet Platinum. Super slick Stirling lather set the stage for a smooth effortless 3 pass shave that ended BBS. Have a great day my friends!
  3. @Douglas Carey has a link in his Signature to a great site for dating Old Spice gear. The HULL POTTERY mugs can be spotted because of the glazing similar to a ceramic coffee mug. These were the early ones. Later Shulton switched to a beige glass mug.
  4. Terrific picture, Andrew!
  5. Worst cut ever? Chicks dig scars...make it count. Your shave kit is officially approved by Bama Samurai, and I will go out on a limb and say that @wchnu also approves of your life choices at this point, open wounds and all. My first day with a Feather type shavette:

In context: >>my first CJB<< from March 2016. I'd had 75 days of SR in a row as my intro to open blade.

I am glad you've joined the group. It seems as if you've been here forever.
  6. Thanks for advice, all. I think that trying to use this for the first time at 6am trying to get ready for work isn't the best idea. I might shelve this until the weekend for shaves, but practice without a blade each evening.
  7. Veddy nice! Gotta love it. Always feels good to know ypu have not lost your edge. In more ways then one with a straight razor.

I gave away both my real straights. Maybe I should kerp one around. Like a big wedge looking thing!

Thanks! I think I will get on the hunt for one. Good reason to get out to a few junk stores.

    Why yes I do. BULLY!!!
  8. It's a lot to learn at 6am without already previously doing SR. No shame in that game. Put it down for a bit.
  9. I don't know what I'd do some days without the group. Some others also feel like I've been here forever, but they're not sure if it is a positive...;)
  10. @jtspartan

At six am on a Tuesday, we might be trying to avoid injury on an open blade.

At eight am on Saturday, we're just trying to leisurely pull off a good shave with a straight.

One is definitely easier than the other.
  11. The usual "Tall" cups aren't tall enough for me, but my preferred way of drinking it is black, with an IV drip for delivery.
  12. Don't force the issue with the pain stick. You're on the right track. Practicing without a blade, check. And the best advice is still.....if you're shaving with a pain stick and feel any kind of doubt as you start to set down, stop. Take a couple of breaths. Relax. If that doesn't cure the shakes then switch to a DE to finish. There's always tomorrow to back to the pain stick.
  13. Have you been using fake steel? Isn't that a violation of Cartel/Yakuza regs?
  14. Oh crap.

    That's like real mayo.

It's gonna be a long day.
  15. JANUARY 15 UPDATE on the MEET UP!

I posted an update on the meet up thread. Link is in my signature. Please take the time to read it.

You may now resume regular shaving.
  16. That right there is hard core. Awesome!
  17. Barbasol menthol shavette(the real one) Monday. Great two pass shave with the can stuff (goo. Yes I know the gel is goo but if it's in a can....goo). A new Shark half and Brisk AS worked the magic for start and finish.
