Williams Wednesday! SOTD January 17, 2018 Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM PTFE Razor: GEM G-Bar Brush: JR #60 synthetic Soap: Williams Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Baker Street aftershave WTG, touch up
The last time I used the Williams it actually performed very well thanks to my Plissoft synthetic. It gave me good lather which stayed stable throughout the shave.
Williams Wednesday 1.24.2018 Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash Brush: Cremo by Vie-Long Horse Hair Soap: Williams Mug Shaving Soap Razor: Gillette Tech Blade: Feather (lost count on uses but still performing well) Post-shave: Dickinson's Original WH, Aqua Velva Sensitive 5 in 1 AS Balm, Walgreens Cooling AS Once again the Williams performed magnificently!
Williams Wednesday. Outstanding shave with modern Williams and a new Semogue 1305. The ER 1912 was smooth as could be.
Williams Wednesday's Shave Proraso Pre Shave Williams JR #257 Synthetic Microbatic Bullet Tip Personna Gem CS Personna Pal CS CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Florida Water I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Ingram Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the JR #257 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Micromatic Bullet Tip Razor using a Personna Gem and Pal CS SE blades and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Florida Water AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Yeah, Williams is a thirsty soap and it takes a good amount of water to get a decent lather going with it. That said, it is possible to do it using the following technique: Damp: Soak your brush in water, squeeze off some of the excess on top of the puck, and squeeze the remainder into your sink or bowl until the brush bristles are damp. Proceed to work the brush into the moistened puck until you have a thick, pasty consistency, then apply to face. Add some drops of water to the brush and repaint on top of the first layer, then repeat the process once or twice more. A softer soap puck might yield better results more quickly, but I find what works for me is to build up my lather this way instead of trying to work the brush into the puck until a decent lather is achieved.

I missed replying to this Jeff. Williams does love the newer synthetics. I have a couple of videos with that.
