My Bride and I just returned from a long trip - 3 airplanes and 15 hours of flight time. We both came home with pretty nasty upper respiratory infections. I did some reading and also learned that it's a good idea to wipe down the tray tables and pass on the airline blankets and pillows. I hate to be a germophobe, but I'll do just about anything (aside from staying home) to avoid getting sick like that again.
Here in North Georgia we are going through a major flu epidemic. One of our hospitals have signs up at the ER telling people to go to another hospital. There are over 70 people on a waiting list for a bed. I am not normally a germophobe, but under conditions like this I consider buying hand sanitizer by the gallon and disinfecting wipes by the case lot.
Best Western Wednesday! - Parker SRX - Edwin Jagger Super - Arko - Stirling Gentleman All the Arko talk made me dig my tin out tonight. Just a quick three passes for a good clean shave.
Been an interesting couple weeks here. My oldest has had an ER visit, three days off daycare and two Dr visits. Think she had the flu, but treatment would have been the same either way, so they didn’t check. She is on the mend now. Of course, yesterday the little one got some kind of stomach bug. I stayed home with her today, and she can’t keep any food down. My wife is a germaphobe, and I don’t deal with puke well. On the plus side I got a new razor today, the last non-Gillette I was looking for, a Cooper Monobuilt. Picture is my current collection of DEs. After I bought almost 50 different ones, these are the survivors. From left to right: Pre-war Tech (have a New LC baseplate that I use with it as well,) Stahley Live head on Windrose handle, Barbasol Floating Head, Cooper Monobuilt, and F4 Toggle. Toggle is going to a new home. Only DEs I’m interested in at this point are a FatBoy and a black handled super speed with an X1 date code.
Glad to hear your oldest is on the mend. I hope the little one gets better soon. Congrats on finding the Monobuilt.
Thanks, and good to know..speaking of trips, I'm beginning to sort out my Colorado package for June. Going out a few days before the rest of my family, so as to scope out some areas.
Wednesday January 17 - Jeeves and a Rocket English Flaretip Rocket / vintage Gillette Platinum Plus ( 4) Simpsons CH2 Synthetic brush Jeeves Cherry Blossom soap Alum, Thayers Witch Hazel Original and Jeeves Cherry Blossom splash Another good shave with a nice solid razor. I have started using witch hazel again for the extra moisturizing in our dry cold. I can notice the difference even though the Jeeves splashes contain some witch hazel themselves.
For a weekly stay, I don't clean my room but I do put personal items such as razors and toothbrush. I do tip housekeeping.
Curious question for all of you hotel tippers: I get the impression you tip every day. Is this the case? I usually just leave a tip when I leave. Am I in breach of hotel tipping etiquette?
I’ll keep an eye out for an X1, Adam. Congrats on the Monobilt. I’ve said it before, it is a stubble assassin, and that one looks to be in great shape.
Two out of focus shave. I have added a mini focus, I am trying to finish up two soaps, Haslinger and a R66. The Cobra Classic always provides me a quick excellent shave. (No Pic) The Parker SR has become favourite 1/2 DE based shavette. It has the heft I like and covers the corners so they don't nick me. Just one tiny cut and a tickle from the alum.
