Closest one to me now is 4 hours away in Pittsburg. When I lived in Charleston they were everywhere, but they looked sketchy at best and was informed by locals that they were not a good idea. There were a couple Denny's and I enjoy them and they remind me of my misspent youth.
I think it was likely just a bad trip, and left a bad taste. I have worked with too many southern guys who talk about Waffle House, to write it off completely, but again, I only ever see one once every couple of years at best.
I remember a comedian who referred to Waffle House as "Gas station restrooms that serve breakfast". Took me a little while to get off the floor.
My wife and I enjoy waffle house on occasion. She likes Waffle House better than IHOP. I tell you the ones around me are never empty of patrons.
I have to agree, years ago IHOP was really good but last couple times i tried one it was not good at all and i will not go back
Nothing wrong with the Awful Waffle - other than I found out the hard way that they cooked their hash browns with onions.
There is no more entertaining place in the world than a Waffle House around 2 a.m. after you're done at a party. Oh the stories I could tell, but I'd be kicked off of this forum with extreme prejudice!
We had WH breakfast before church last Sunday; I had the hash browns covered with cheese and chili. Quite good.
Yup. Been going there for breakfast for many years. Now taking a grandson there he loves (of course) the waffles. Me. I'm a black coffee-2 eggs over medium, sausage, hashbrowns (scattered) and toast guy.
Same here. Lived in Atlanta, and loved Waffle House. The worst part about living in Central Illinois is that I have to drive to Indianapolis to find one. Introduced my wife when we first got married and she loves it. BTW: I like mine scattered, smothered, covered, and chunked.
