The Creosote in this aftershave is a plant that grows in the Sonoran desert. The Creosote you are thinking of is a very different scent, made from different stuff. Also not sure I would put that on my face. I bet it would burn.

Hope the sniffles turn/ed out to be just that, and no more.

You mean to say that no one makes a roofing tar-scented shaving soap?

Arko reminds me of my Grandma’s laundry room. I give it a big thumbs up.

I remember a thread somewhere, years ago, where a guy really was asking for one. I knew what @Drygulch was referring to was a plant, (or I thought it was like a small manzanita type bush), but I assumed the smell was something similar. The idea of it basenoted in a scent somewhere could work it it was done right? Anyone who has ever tried Stirling’s Texas on Fire will know what I mean.

I didn't find it drying at all. Really enjoyed it! But then, I like Williams too. :)

Thanks, Andrew. Sorry to read you had a bad day at work. Just remember, they're not all bad days! :happy088:

    :happy102:

As I said, I can't remember what it reminds me of... but it's not a bad memory. Maybe the baby powder Mom used on my behind when I was a baby smelled like that.

Great picture, Dan! I have that same feeling with the Arko scent. It reminds me of something in my past, but I am not sure what exactly.

Not exactly. I can usually work it OK, but not today. :)

    Very kind of you, sir!

Thanks, Jim. The Bride says it reminds her of a cheap motel soap... or a cheap soap in a cheap motel... or something like that. Regardless, I like the scent, and it produces an impressive lather.

I don't know what Adam's @Drygulch creosote bushes smell like. Most plants have a pleasant scent. I'm most familiar with an oily black product applied to railroad ties and fishing docks. Not an unpleasant smell unless it was summer time and you sat in a fresh patch. I recall that wood preservative burned.

Neal @NCoxSTL - Looking for a simple graphic with verbage? Something that could be screen printed in a single color on tee shirts? I enjoy wrangling pixels, give me a clue!

    Stirling Mountain Man soap sample
    Semogue #1905 boar - Excelsior!
    Suribachi bowl and warm water
    Fatip Piccolo, Feather blade
    Lucky Tiger Skin Care AS

SOTD 01182018 Stirling Mtn Man Feathe 2r.gif
Thought about ordering Stirling Glastonbury soap and AS. That's as far as I got because it's a Spring & Summer offering. I still has a couple shaves worth of Mountain Man from a PIF so I did the best I could manage. My only Semogue brush (thanks to Randy @BaylorGator) stirred up what I hope is the same formula Stirling is currently selling. My sample was quite dry, even setting with a splash of water for 15 minutes. Still it gave up easily and loaded, and whipped into a pleasant lather. I needed all the soaps protection waving a Feather loaded Fatip around my face. This isn't a bad razor, but it can be used in an improper manner. Ride the cap and it's effective. After three passes and regular excessive clean up detailing I'm DFS smooth with no blood spilt. After a splash of Pepé Le Pew & tire fire scented lotion I'm hydrated and smooth. The Lucky Tiger is Skin Care according to the label.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Well, she's called me cheap from time to time so I'll let her figure that out herself. :D

My ex usually added a bit more to it. Even after she met my Mom and Dad.

Well, I'm caught up now. I was more than 100 posts behind on this thread alone! Instead of trying to do a lengthy multi-quote post I'll summarize:

As usual... many inspired shaves over the last couple of days, gentlemen! If someone had told me 2 years ago (before I started on my wet-shaving journey) that I would find it fascinating what other men shaved with and their comments, good or bad, about shaving tools & products, I would have told that someone, "You're nuts!"

I'm now reluctant to stay at any hotel until I can clear my mind of germs on TV remotes, what other germs may be lurking in the rooms, and what housekeepers may do to one's toothbrush... unless you secure it in a blast-proof safe. Thanks, guys. Thanks a lot for the bad thoughts. :angry019:

No matter, I'm reluctant to leave the house now anyway to travel.... sounds like there are a lot of viruses out there making my TSD friends and family members sick and many others. I had better just stay home. :shocked003:
