That's a great looking razor and brush set. Lovely grain in the wood. The razor head looks rather like an EJ89.

@jtspartan, I have always liked the look of that boar brush. Pity the handle is let down by the knot, but it sounds like you will fix that shortly.

Didn't get a chance to post until now, sorry for another Shavette Fu length multiquote...
Are there any differences between the English flaretips compared to the regular American ones, John?
Very interesting sounding soap, Neal. Did you get any other unique samples as well?
Great line up, Perry! Hopefully that will help make up for the thankless job of having to host a conference.
Cool brush and razor combo, Clint. I have seen some of those kits in woodwork supply catalogues (Lee Valley used to have one that was quite similar I believe) but have never pulled the trigger on one. Most seem to have a $9 'pure badger' knot in the package. The turner who did your stuff did a nice job, though.
Nice effect, Jim! The Port au Prince is such a strongly scented soap, the Tabac might not have even been able to conquer it...
Love the finish on the bottom of that brush, Mark.
    Yup, now it is Friday.

Thank you, Jason! You are right, I smelled Port-au-Prince throughout the day and very little old man (or old lady purse). It is the only soap I have that I smell later in the day.

Thank you Jason. I like wood tones and think the turner did a good job. I wish he would have made the base of the handle flat so I could sit it on its base between passes. I am always happy to have the wife and girls support my hobby.

They sent 4 total samples. I know Turkish Bath is one of them. Can't remember the names of the others at the moment. Plan to do three shaves with each which should get me close to the end of the month.

That does seem odd. Perhaps some folks keep their brushes upside down in a stand 24/7. Can’t think of another good reason to not make a brush freestanding.

I can't either. He did tell my wife he had just started making brushes and had never used one.

    Gillette Adjustable Friday
    1.19.2018
Face Shave (1 day) & Head Shave (7 days):
Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
    Brush: Barburys synthetic
Cream: Kiss My Face Moisture Shave (Fragrance Free)
    Razor: Gillette Fatboy E-4 (#9)
Blade: Feather (5 or 6 maybe)
Post-shave: Dickinson's Original WH, Gillette Sensitive Skin AS Gel, Gillette Cool Wave AS Splash

The shavette took a day off today so I could use the Fatboy this Adjustable Friday. The KMF cream lathered well in my suribachi bowl whipped up by the synthetic. I cranked the Fatboy to the max using this Feather blade which still has a lot of life in it. I did two passes on my face and two passes on my scalp with some clean-up. I concluded with some weepers on my cheek near the goatee. I don't know what I did but I suspect I pressed down trying to avoid trimming the goatee. Overall, a pleasant shave, and no complaints.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, gents!

You have never experienced a feedback sandwich? Where they tell you something positive about you, then tear you apart down to your naked soul, and then end on a happy note? Welcome to corporate middle management.

Actually once about five or six years ago, I was in one of these things, and we had this speaker/trainer/motivator in. Some super high buck, ex fighter pilot, or helicopter dude named Wally. We spent like two and a half hours on Tuesday afternoon taking this personality profile like none I had ever done before. Really personal stuff.

The next morning, we are all (maybe 100 of us) hung over as Hell, and this guy kicks off the morning. First words out of his mouth, and I am not kidding, are “Who’s Jared?” I don’t know whether to laugh or throw up, but I raise my hand, and he says, “I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that you’re an &$$hole. The good news is that you could care less.”

    I love management training.

Well I'm back at the Schick E2 this morning, and I received a DFS shave with only one weeper and a little irritation. The blade has went beyond mellow to dulling out; time for a change. I am still enjoying the E2, but not infatuated with it; looking forward to going to maybe another Schick ... maybe a Krona. Till then I'll keep working with the E2.

    Razor: E2
Blade: Schick (~11x) time to change
Brush: Hardright Davy Jones 22mm synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Island Man
After shave: Blue Steel (classic AV / Florida Water)
    Shaving balm: Simpson
Results: DFS, very little irritation, only one weeper!
