Round two with the Monobuilt. Got the blade loaded correctly this time, and that helps a lot with the razor. There is a tab in one side of the head where one end of the blade has to be under. This soap is super soft, and a brush with too much backbone will gouge it out of the tub, so I grabbed my softest brush. Scent in this is listed as a bright blend of Pineapples, oak moss, bergamot, patchouli, jasmine, and vanilla. I can’t really smell the patchouli or vanilla, so it’s not a bad scent. It will be the next soap I kill after the Van Yulay I am working on now. Did a three pass shave, and got a DFS with two weepers. I have three more of this blade, a 7 ‘o Clock Black, then a GSB and two Feathers. If I manage to go through all of those before our addition is done, I might actually have to get some blades, since he rest of mine are in storage.
SOTD January 20, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: GEM PTFE single edge Razor: GEM G-Bar Brush: JR #41 badger Lather: Soap Commander Influence Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Black Tea aftershave, Soap Commander Influence balm WTG, XTG Terrific all around shave. Soap Commander is great software. My face was so soft and hydrated at the end of the shave before any of the post-shave goodies. It's a pleasure to use. Have a great day!
I like it, as do my girls. Momma has been at a women's conference, so she has not yet had a chance to weigh in. There is not as much whiskey scent as I expected, but I definitely get some tobacco and woodsy scents. After wearing it for a while, I can tell the bergamot influence as well. It is a bit similar to Clubman Reserve, and if you put them up blind to me, I would say they were made at the same place. They are different, but related. This one does have a little soapy scent to it, though.
Paul, we're only moving about 10 minutes away...a little closer to town. We're not real happy with the new development being planned near our current neighborhood. Otherwise, we love our home.
Beautiful shave with the RazoRock Game Changer and The Dead Sea, first time using the Finest Barrel and it didn't disappoint.
Great lineup and picture Adam. How much longer do you anticipate the addition taking to complete? Wonderful picture Perry. The scent description on the soap label looks very interesting.
Ah,.. of course I am looking at the Edwin Jagger (especially the Kelvin...), do you have to "play" with the blade (and cap) to align the blade?
