There certainly aren't any hard rules that will get you kicked out of the thread, although you do have to watch out for Ivan. The biggest reason for the 30 Day Rule is to help eliminate the variables from your shave, so that different results are caused strictly by changes in technique. Honestly, if you are getting decent results from the 34C, I would suggest to stick with 34C, even if it has some quirks. This is just based on my personal experience of when I stopped swapping gear and let my technique develop.

Hi guys. I just finished one of the craziest weeks of my life. I was in Wisconsin on business while my wife was moving us into our new house in Idaho. I flew to California and picked up my car and drove the 500 miles home yesterday. Today was my first shave in the new home. It feels good to be home.

Others have said it, but I'll echo the idea. The idea of a Rule or Focus is to help you develop your technique. If you were having issues with the Futur Clone set it aside for now. Six months or a year from now you'll have developed your skills to the point that it may work better for you. Learn your new razor by resetting your Rule/Focus. It doesn't have to start on the first of the month, or end on any particular day. The worst that could happen is you'll have to bring cookies for the folks who did stay on their plans. I started this month thinking I was going to revisit shavettes. Just wasn't feeling it so I'm gathering supplies to make oatmeal raisin cookies. ;)

That's a good looking handle on your DE! Is that the one it comes with, or an upgrade?

Pre-shave: hot shower and Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
Cream: Kiss My Face Moisture Shave (Cool Mint)... applied by hand
    Razor: Magic by Master Barber
    Blade: Derby Professional (1)
Post-shave: Dickinson's Original WH, Nivea Men Sensitive PS Balm, Skin Bracer AS

Relatively quick shave this afternoon after doing some errands. This is the first time I've used the KMF Cool Mint cream. I used the KMF Fragrance Free cream yesterday. I used a synthetic brush and suribachi bowl yesterday with the KMF fragrance free and got a good, meringue-like, sustainable lather. Today, I just followed the directions on the label for the Cool Mint and it was like rubbing a cream-like lotion on my skin. It provided good protection but it wasn't the lather I was hoping for. The scent of this Cool Mint KMF was rather strong and reminded me of Wrigley's Spearmint gum. I could definitely feel the "cooling" effect on my skin.

The shave itself was okay. I managed a CCS on my cheeks and a reasonably comfortable, but not so close shave on my neck.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hi Steve... my second razor (1st one was the VDH TTO) was a Merkur 23c, a long-handled 3 piece razor. It's a great, mild razor. I finally bought the Merkur 34c about 6 months ago. I had the same issue with blade alignment as you describe, but it was easy enough to check and correct before I use it. The 34c is a terrific razor, and I'm not surprised you got a great shave from it. I do as well. Don't worry about the blade alignment issue. As long as you're aware of it and can correct it if you need to.

My advice, as already given by others, is focus on what YOU want. You can concentrate on the 34c. Certainly appropriate to change your focus. But keep that Futur! Sometime in the future (6 months, a year or whatever) go back to it.

Island Man is such a great scent. I put it up for winter but now, I know what I'll smell like in church tomorrow. Thanks.

    Yup.

Would that be the old drive in out 14? Out South of town? I seem to remember one there.

I love that cream. Always use a brush though. Brushless stuff sucks. Well when used brushless I mean.

Humm, not like I need more soap but you make a strong case for that scent. My father has a patch of mint near his driveway. I harvest from it often, dry the leaves, and use them to make iced sweet mint tea.

The New Moon Drive In Theater. By the time I was married in 1980 they had devolved to playing "B" movies. With a bumper sticker you got a discount at the ticket gate. Home made popcorn and a jug of Kool-Aid for the kids.
The Mazda Indecent happened decades later at the Starlight drive-in on the south side of Atlanta.
